Family: Alder Brightwood was born on May 14 in Cambridge, England. He was a son to Leo, a wizard who came from a family of Aurors, a Gryffindor graduate. and Lavender, a Hufflepuff graduate who worked as a healer in a local hospital. He also grew up with a younger sister, Aster, who is 3 years younger than him. Both of his parents were caring, compassionate and protective, and were wholly opposed to dark magic, fighting against its consequences in their own ways. His mother stayed within Cambridge, but his father often had to travel away to nearby London for his duties.

Backstory, childhood and and FIOM:
His first instance of magic was at 4 years old, when he was playing with his baby sister, and she was about to accidentally fall from the second floor window when he wasn't looking. He panicked, worried about what'd happen to his sister, but suddenly the pavement became bouncy like jelly for a decisive moment and she jumped back up to be caught. When his parents learned of it, that's when they knew their eldest son was also destined to be a protector.

Immediately following the event, he began to receive his first homeschooling about the wizarding world, but his parents couldn't fully agree on their methods. His father wanted him to follow in his footsteps like him, and so taught him about the threats of the magical world first, wanting him to face them bravely head-on. Meanwhile, his mother taught him of the benefits of magic, including its ability to heal and protect. She wanted him to be there for whoever needed it, just like she was.

And that went on for a few years. But then, one night, when he was 8 years old, everything changed in the parents' dynamic. He received the news by his mother one stormy November morning, that his father was killed on the line of duty last night by a powerful escapee from Azkaban, a life prisoner practising dark magic. He barely knew what that meant at the time, but he had an idea of what they could do from his father's stories. He was devastated. His father... Was overpowered, and is now gone? He could hardly believe this fate, but he did what he could to live on for his single mother and sister and continue his education, being sent to his city's basic wizarding preparation school for his mother to handle her now increased responsibilities and worsened financial situation.

When he was 11 years old, his mother came to him with exciting news. An owl addressed to him came from an address out of town, and he should find it interesting. He initially thought it was a letter from London, maybe another letter from his late father's coworkers? But then, the address was in Scotland, where he had no known relatives. He knew instantly what the letter should be and opened it excitedly. Finally, his life at Hogwarts was about to begin, with new friends and new adventures.
