Physical Description: Rike stands at 4’8”, average for her age. She’s of average build with a clear, pale complexion. She doesn’t stand out but also isn’t homely to look at. She has large deep blue-green eyes and medium brown-auburn hair. She wears it pulled back in a ponytail or messy bun most days as it’s long, naturally wavy and just past her shoulders.

Mental Description: Rike is a sarcastic, yet kind girl who finds she does get along with most, though not all. She’s quite headstrong and determined, as she is a perfectionist and is hardest on herself. She’s not genius level intelligent as she does have to put in the work to achieve her grades. She’s curious and does like to learn but finds she really has to push herself in subjects she finds boring. Outwardly, one would think she’s quite the social butterfly, but to her, she really feels most comfortable doing something that makes her happy whether it’s exploring, reading, researching an interest, etc. She can come off as rude at times because can be impatient when she feels someone is saying something or doing something she feels is stupid. She can be impulsive if it’s something she really wants to explore or experience.

Biography: Growing up in Edinburgh, Scotland in a pure-blood family, I have always been surrounded by magic. My parents come from families whose parents were witches and wizards and their parents and so on. So I guess it wasn’t a question of if but rather when I would show my first sign of magic. I come from a smallish family, my mum and dad each have only two other siblings each (dad has an older sister and younger brother) and mum has two brothers (she’s the youngest). However, I am an only child. My aunt and uncles would come by and visit during the holidays and one of my uncles, dad’s brother, Callum works for the Ministry in the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes, so he’d always have at least three new stories to share each visit. I always looked up to my Aunt Elspeth, who ran her own potions, ingredients and apothecary shop. She’s a potions master and it was something that always fascinated me and loved visiting her in her shop. My parents did well for themselves, too. Mum and dad both worked for the Ministry as well, but in rather more mundane jobs compared to Uncle Callum, but it meant more stability and able to spend time together as a family for dinner at night, which was a cherished tradition. Mum worked in the Improper Use of Magic office and dad worked in The International Magical Trading Standards Body. Dad tried to explain once what he did but I honestly found it boring so he stopped explaining when my eyes glazed over. I just know mum’s office keeps track of underage witches and wizards who use magic, so no getting away with practicing outside school.

First Instance of Magic: My first instance of Magic was when I was about three years old. Mum tells the story repeatedly because she said it was just “so precious”. Apparently I was upset over something as toddlers are and I was just crying nonstop. Mum was tired and fed up and put me to bed. As she was coming in to check in on me, since I had miraculously stopped my tears, she walked in to see that I had summoned my stuffed animals into a dance to get me to stop crying and seeing that made mum cry and laugh all at once. Dad came home a little later and told him all about it and he says that he was so proud he wrote owls to his siblings. The story is a favorite of my mum’s to tell people because she “couldn’t imagine something more sweet” and each tell of the story involves an eye roll from me.
