Physical Description: Ivy is a 11-year-old, first-year student with brown wavy hair and piercing icy-blue eyes. She is a bit tall for her age at 4'10" [Eventually growing to 5' 7"], and has a peculiar sense of style, preferring more bohemian-style outfits. She has some little scars on her body from growing up in the United States and getting bitten up by mosquitoes, or falling out of trees.

Biography and Heritage: Ivy comes from a line of mixed heritage, the last generation of witch being her maternal grandmother who married a muggle and decided to live a simple muggle life away from her parents magical tree farm under the guise of an apple orchard in the Midwest United States, where they supplied wood to wand and broom-makers alike.

Ivy's grandmother was an impulsive, spicy woman with a kind heart who loved to give presents, but didn't always make the best choices when it came to how often she went gambling. Even through her flaws, she still put Ivy high on the list of importance, and her and her husband tried to make it work, and stayed together through thick and thin as they vowed.

Ivy's grandmother had a single non-magical child, so her husband never found out about her ancestry, and neither did her daughter.

Ivy's mother was raised as a muggle, in the muggle world, though technically is a squib.

While Ivy's mother busied herself with other things, Ivy's grandparents took care of her, her grandmother secretly hoping that she would be the proverbial daughter they didn't have. A magical one. Yet she didn't push it. She treated her with kindness and love all the same, and never knew, even upon the hour of her death, that Ivy would be a magical child.

While raising Ivy, her grandmother often hinted that things weren't always as they seemed, encouraging her to think beyond just what she could see, but rather into what she could feel and extrapolate from the basic information gathered by her senses.

She was the one who told Ivy her father was a bad man and to not go looking for him, ever. That she was better off without him in her life. This was when Ivy made the decision to be a good person... to want to be nothing like her father that she knew literally nothing about, yet yearned to know everything about.

[Ivy's dad is an unimportant pure blood dark wizard that tried to charm Ivy's mother and take the inheritance that would eventually come to her when her mother passes on. He left when he got Ivy's mother pregnant by accident, never intending to 'start a family with a filthy squib' and not needing the 'extra baggage']

Ivy's grandfather, on the other hand, was a tall and strong, yet gentle and tenderhearted muggle. He always made time for Ivy, even when he didn't have it, and helped greatly in her emotional development. He would read her stories on his lap and loved to give her hugs. He also made the best food, having been in the US Army and cooking there. He knew how to make the most out of very little, not that their family wanted for much of anything. Yet they lived fairly frugally. He taught her how to love and to empathize, even when it came to strangers, though half of the things he did, such as stopping at the the side of the road to help someone struggling with car problems, he warned her not to do as it was too easy for her to get hurt nowadays. But other things, like donating financially to the poppy fund and Salvation Army or offering free labor to the animal shelter alongside him, he encouraged.

After Ivy's maternal grandparents passed away when she was eight, her mom packed her up and moved her to England, where her mom married a kind gentleman who accepted Ivy as his own. Even though things were awkward, the man tried his best, and that was enough, though nobody could compete with her grandfather in her heart as a male parental figure.

It was shortly after Ivy's younger sister was born that they found out Ivy was magical.

Mental Description: Everything about Ivy , aside from her pale eyes, looks down-to-earth but her head is very much in the clouds and she needs a friend to keep her grounded in reality. She'd often been the adventurous sort, exploring hiking trails and every inch of nature she could set her sights on, her mind racing with what sort of secrets could be hidden around, yet all she wanted was to do great things. She wanted to be well known for doing great things with her talents. As a muggle, this meant singing, drawing, and breathing life into even the most mundane tasks... even helping people like her grandfather. Yet, if there were rules against helping someone out, Ivy could very easily find a way around them. She was sly and cunning but used it in a way to promote the positive, rather than help her get away with things. She was always thinking. Always learning. Even things that were unspoken she could pick up on. Some people described her as sharp as a whip. She just wants to be the best person she can be.

First Instance of Magic: Ivy was ten years old and living in England with her mom and new stepdad. Her younger sister who was almost two years old at the time, was screaming for her dummy (pacifier), and Ivy went to cover her ears, which unintentionally caused every pipe in the house to burst at once. Thankfully the house was insured and her family didn't have to pay much out of pocket, however, Ivy still feels very guilty about this incident.

Greatest Fear: Ivy's greatest fear is dying and being forgotten, though if we are talking physical fears, dementors will unfortunately take the top of that list as she grows and learns about them at Hogwarts.

Greatest Strength: Ivy has many strengths: perseverance, astuteness, ambition, kindness, integrity, forgiveness, and protectiveness. Oddly enough, her biggest strength is to be able to assess outcomes of her choices and try to choose the one of the lesser evil. Though sometimes her choice might not be the greatest, it's our mistakes that help us to grow.
