Appearance

Emery is a tall and strong man, standing at an impressive 196 cm. He has long locks of curly, dirty blond/light brown hair reaching to his shoulders, and he has eyes that shimmer blue and grey like a swimming pool reflecting rays of the sun. He has an elegant look to him, flamboyant perhaps in certain situations.

Personality

There is a beautiful dichotomy within Albrecht. Though he looks flamboyant, extroverted, bold, defiant, and vain, in secret he is a gentle soul, reflecting a personality mirroring a loving golden retriever, to those that truly know him. His outward personality of a man concerned with his looks and prideful is a mask to protect himself. He has so long been this way that he has almost become an adrenaline seeker, however, and does lose focus on what is important in life if he does not remind himself to lose the mask and to truly be himself.

Character Backstory:

Emery Albrecht was a peculiar child, interested in the strange yet beautiful world above him and around him as well as the secrets the books in his home contained. His parents Lestat Albrecht and Amalia Albrecht née Wolfe were fellow curse breakers who met during an assignment many years ago. Their love was quickly formed yet burned brightly like Fiendfyre never to be quenched. They were married solely a year after they formed an acquaintance. They were intelligent to wait to have children and though they were married young, their love birthed Emery in 1980. Emery was a calm child, worrying his parents with his lack of crawling, but began walking at a normal age. He learned to read young, at the bright age of four and books consumed his every waking hour. He led a lonely life according to others, but he was focused and enraptured by the worlds the books displayed, and he had no desire to make friends his own age. Outsiders of the family would notice a strange distance between him and his parents. No one would ever see why, but there were secrets behind those house doors they lived within. He was sociable, but his focus was to learn, and learn he did with apt focus, and enraptured delight. Born in Germany, he was tutored to be a mature, intelligent, and independent young student, and as expected, he attended Durmstrang at the appropriate age. Magic was beautiful to him, not just spells to learn and to copy. He saw the creativity in it, and the emotional catharsis within it. He viewed it as an art, a painful one, but a living one, pouring out from a person's discipline and imagination. His unique view allowed him to prosper at school, allowing him to graduate with higher-than-average marks, and gave him the opportunity to pursue any career that he wished. He began his adult life as a student lawyer, devouring wizarding law and expanding his perspective. His great dedication and love for the subject allowed him to quickly obtain a position as a barrister. A few years after, hearing the perspectives of the oppressed in wizarding society, his goal in life shifted, he began to advocate for the half-breeds. Hoping to see different perspective on this subject, he changed career paths and pursued a position in non-human relations for the German wizarding government. Eventually, at age 32, he was pleased to obtain a position as one of the non-human ambassadors for his nation. This allowed him to experience the intelligence side of the government that most do not, including the secret side. Years passed, and soon he was itching for a new career, a bad quality of his being easy boredom and easy loss of empathy that he easily hid. He left his high position in the government and began to pursue academics and research. He began as a graduate student once more, researching into the field of curses, the dark arts, and the ancient role of runes. He spent years in the frenzy of study, pouring his adrenaline seeking nature into finding more and more information and forming unique ideas in this field of scholarship. He became a respected academic soon in this field in Germany at the age of 40. When a position opened up as a professor for Durmstrang, he was excited to return to his old school to form and be a part of the new generation of students. Although there was great competition, he was hired as the new professor of Rune Magic. He has spent the last few years dedicated to this role and he hopes that this will finally be the role that he is able to keep until he is too old to work.

First Instance of Magic

Emery Albrecht was quite young when his first display of magic was discovered. He was three and as a strangely intelligent young toddler, he had already begun to recognise the letters of the German alphabet and was always fascinated with the books on top of father's study room desk. One day, in a fit curiosity, he climbed on to the desk to try to grab a book with those special letters upon it. However, though his mind was quite developed for a three-year-old, his body was unfamiliar with such strenuous activity, and he soon slipped off the tall wooden desk with the book in hand. He fell to the ground, but the wooden floors of the study became soft under him, like pillows of feathers. He was uninjured and though his parents came rushing in with worry at the loud noise, all Emery was focused on was pointing at the letters that he could not understand, in the book in front of him.
