Physical Description:
Altar possesses carefully combed sandy-blonde hair, which usually falls helplessly around his right ear as if giving up all hope of maintaining position. His eyes are a deep green, but not particularly captivating or fetching, rather they seem to be sharply turning around when in new places or reading a book of Wandlore. Usually fixed upon his head is his "lucky" Beige hat he wore on the day he had his first instance of magic. At home he usually has his Niffler, Ibis up curled around his neck, but sadly they are not allowed at Hogwarts. In her place he wears a small Niffler pin of Bronze in a show of silent protest against this - one that nobody has noticed or especially cares about, including Altar
Mental Description:
Altar is studious, inquisitive, and usually overprotective - especially towards his Niffler, Ibis, who adores shiny things more than any previously recorded being. Despite this, he usually acts rashly or stupidly whenever his friends and family are on he line, not bothering to think twice about the possible ramifications of his actions. He is rather fascinated by all areas of magic, but especially Wandlore - after reading a tome his mother was given upon leaving Ollivander's, he became fascinated by the subject, astounded at how much people get wrong about the topic
Biography:
Born and raised in the town of Swindon, England, to Eleanor and Roger Lace. His Mother, Eleanor, was a Witch who formerly worked as an Assistant in Ollivander's, while his Father was a Muggle Librarian by day and a "Podcaster" by Saturday Afternoons. He was gifted his Niffler, Ibis, at the age of 6 after his first instance of Magic, by his Aunt Imdelda. Back in Swindon he has a friend called Colleen, who is the daughter of the local Grocer. After his first instance of magic, his mother revealed her and her sister's magical lineage. None of this came to a surprise to his father, who had been told shorty after him and Eleanor got married. His Aunt, Imelda Lace, works as a (surprisingly easygoing) Unspeakable at the Ministry, and his Uncle frames paintings. Ibis has the legally questionable (but instinctive for all Nifflers) job of a full-time kleptomaniac.
Altar's relationship with his parents wasn't too strained or anything similar. His father usually expressed profound confusion when Altar and his Mother talked about profusely magical things, but this usually just ended with an explanation that usually ended up as a historical review of the Cleansweep-Comet industrial race. His mother and and Aunt Imelda don't usually write to each other, but this is mainly because Imelda currently lives on the outskirts of an unplottable inland Quintaped reserve, so communication via Owl is more than problematic. Hhis family don't really have any issues with House, and even though Eleanor was a Slytherin in her day she has no issues with him being in Gryffindor. Altar enjoys listening to the Wizarding Wireless Network, Michael Jackson music and reading about Quidditch.
First Instance of Magic:
Altar's first instance if magic was when he was six. At his Aunt Imelda's house, still unaware of his magical lineage, he found a strange silver pocket watch. Unfortunately, it was broken and had ceased to function. After trying to fiddle with the gears, he went up and left. Pounding his foot on he ground in frustration, the watch suddenly started working - not a second behind time. The watch itself was later revealed to be a concealed crystal ball, which was used in Aunt Imelda's work as an unspeakable.
Altar's Wand
A rather delicate spiral of mayhaw, which dulls down near the center into a notched end, convenient for quick spell-casting. The Wand itself seemed to choose Altar for lineage - the Phoenix Feather core has been a tradition in his family for a while. Ever since his great-great-great-great grandfather Rupert Lace took a Phoenix Feather for his wand (13 1/4 Inches, Mahogany, Suprisingly Swishy - at least, that's what the family history book says), the same family of Poenixes seems to have given their feathers it their corresponding Lace descendant - the feather Altar's wand comes from, in fact, came from the great-great-great granddaughter of the Phoenix who gifted Rupert with his feather. In the center, the wand has an intricately carved Phoenix egg symbol
Lace Family History Book
Look in the sitting-room of Aunt Imelda's House - or, nowadays, Altar's sidetable in Phoenix Pen, and one will notice a thick, heaving tome clasped by disparate segments of disjointed fabric and leather, bound in metal that seems to have been repaired and replaced with differing alloys one too many times over the years. The book is an almanac of the Lace family, having been authored at least partially by every Lace in history. The book itself holds details of family gatherings, wand details, pets (including a framed photo of Ibis) - almost a diary of sorts, if a diary can be so franticly written by so many people.
The book is enchanted so that multiple versions exist at once. Each time a new author adds to the collective riot of writing, all other existing copies are updated. A while back, a copy went mysteriously missing - even Ibis didn't pilfer it. It is an honestly scary mystery
