Physical Description: Cooper is a pale, small boy of eleven with curly brown hair and green eyes. He wears horn-rimmed glasses at his current age and tends to favor hats when he's allowed to wear them. Currently, he stands a tad shorter than average at 4 feet and 6 inches (about 137.16 centimeters).

Mental Description: If one must use a word to describe Cooper, it would most likely be excitable. With a lonely childhood back in Ladbroke and having recently been introduced to the magical world, his desperation to find at least one friend tends to make him come across far strongly than he intends, but—at the heart of it—he's empathetic and honest to a fault. Sometimes, however, that honesty will cause more trouble than it's worth. Cooper is also a collector and fan boy of comic books. Since joining the magical world, he's gained an interest in collecting Chocolate Frog Cards. He may pick up rocks which he stores in a shoe box at home; he likes to have at least one to symbolize places he's been to.

Biography: Cooper's childhood has been looking rather bleak. Born on the 20th of April in 2013, he's the only child of Jim and Aileen Kirby, both of whom had decided to wait until they were more secure in a home of their own. In some people's unwanted opinions, they had waited too long and deprived their son of a sibling.

With Aileen having been a wanderer in her youth, she hadn't quite been ready to settle down until a near accident on the highway inspired her to chase after change. She was the one who proposed and—forgoing tradition—her husband took her surname. Currently, she works in the local library as a librarian and archivist. Jim, on the other hand, has always been more of a homebody. He likes to think himself a budding gardener, but he hasn't figured out how to keep his plants alive yet. The most he's been able to grow is basil and some cacti. He's been working on growing mint which has made their home smell strongly of it. Cooper is mostly being raised by his stay-at-home father who's been able to make money by writing articles at home.

Due to his family's nontraditional dynamics, Cooper has been alienated by children his age in Ladbroke. Either by parental influence or by their own choice, they view him and his parents as decidedly strange.

Before a professor from Hogwarts came to explain what exactly was occurring around Cooper, he was (mostly) content to spend his days off school in the family room of his home reading comic books while his mum clicked away at her laptop and his dad anxiously hovered over that week's dying potted plant.

First Instance of Magic: Cooper's first instance of accidental magic wasn't much or overly interesting on the surface. To him, however, he considers it the most important moment of his life.

At eight, he had been walking home from the library with a newly borrowed comic issue. With his head bent, distracted, he was completely unaware of everything around him; he was simply too busy reading about Batman and his villain of the week. It was only when he arrived inside of his home and his dad met him with a towel that he realized it had been raining outside the entire time. Feeling anxious and confused, he lied for the first time in his life and claimed he was walked home by one of mum's coworkers who had an umbrella.

Unknown to him, he had been surrounded in a bubble. What he did know was that the rain never once touched him or the comic.

Over the years, before his letter of acceptance and a professor shadowed their front door, Cooper was convinced he had been mistaken and was misremembering what happened. Maybe he really had been walked home by his mum's coworker? His attempts to make it happen again were all failures and nearly always resulted in lectures from his parents and him sick.
