Before Hogwarts:

Evony learned of her lineage as a pure-blood witch when she was eight, but her upbringing was far from the wizarding nobility. Shuffled between foster homes, she never formed lasting attachments, leaving her with a sense of impermanence, but also a resilience that would define her character.

"I don't like to talk much about my past. I never knew my parents. I was in a foster home when I received my letter from Hogwarts. I was taken in by the School, my initial provisions provided for by the Ministry, and I never looked back. I look forward to completing my education and showing the world what I can do."

First Instance of Magic:
Evony's first instance of magic happened unexpectedly one day. In a fit of anger and fear, the lights of the house inexplicably flickered on and off.
After her first instance of magic, when she was alone, Alistair Plume appeared in a blurring swirl, and told her about her parents - the first time she had ever been told anything about them. He only said that they were pure-bloods and she would attend Hogwarts when she was of age.

Evony's father, Edmund Senoj, was an Auror, and her mother, Arabella, was a potioneer and healer in the village where they lived. Arabella only worked when she pleased, as she was an only child and had inherited her family wealth and mansion. Edmund's career was very dangerous, considering he worked with a team to track down some of the darkest wizards, so when on a case, he usually traveled and stayed far from their home until the job was done and it was safe to return.
Both were thrilled when they learned they would be having a child, and Edmund decided that it would be time to retire and transition to a safer job closer to home... but he needed to finish one more case. Thinking it would be only a couple month's time, he left his three-months pregnant wife and traveled out of country to help catch a notorious dark wizard.
Months passed, and the dark wizard remained elusive. Worse: he was taunting his pursuers with riddles, puzzles, and threats. In this time, Edmund had been writing to his wife, apologizing for what she had to go through alone. She faithfully sent him a letter every week to assure him of her health, but then came the week when no letter arrived. Arabella was nine months pregnant, and Edmund feared the worst. He dropped the case and hurried home to his wife.
However, when he arrived at his front door, it was open. He called for his wife. No answer. There was a letter on the entrance table. He covered his mouth as he read it. It was Arabella, in excited, shaky scrawl, telling him that they had a baby girl. He called again and rushed to their room.
[Details have been redacted.] Edmund had found his wife murdered and his newborn baby girl, crying of hunger, in a bassinet beside their bed. In fury, Edmund grabbed his baby girl and burned the mansion, eradicating the painful reminder of his loss.
Edmund knew he could never rest, using the reasoning that his daughter would never be safe, until the dark wizard was caught. He wished only for his daughter to have a simple life, and he would give that to her when he returned. For now, he contacted a friend of his at the Ministry, Alistair Plume, to help him procure paperwork to have his daughter placed in a foster home temporarily. He kissed his daughter, whispered promises in her ear, and then left her with nothing but a name: Evony Senoj.
Months passed. Then a year. When Evony was one year and 2 months old, unbeknownst to her or the family that agreed to take her in only temporarily, Edmund Senoj was killed by the dark wizard. Shortly after, he was finally caught and placed in Azkaban - indefinitely.
Evony's first foster family kept her long after the agreed amount of time, until she was three years old, but when they had their own child, they regretfully gave her up to the foster system. While newborns and infants have the highest adoption rates, a child the age of three has a much lower likelihood of adoption. By six years old, the percentage of children adopted drops to almost 25%., and by ten years old, only about 17% of foster children are adopted.
Evony moved from foster home to foster home, a string of bad luck causing her to remain unadopted. She received a full education in the same way most wizarding children do, through small public wizarding schools and occasionally homeschool. Her past remained a mystery, and she felt she had no true place in the world, until the night the lights inexplicably flickered in her room.
Evony's current guardians as of starting at Hogwarts are Gladdis and Henrick Whitlock.
