Physical Description: Alyss stands at 4’4, and has blonde hair that reaches just past her shoulders. She loves wearing her hair down because Alyss loves the feeling of whipping it around her head and it thumping into her skull, giving her a sense of calm. Alyss’s eyes are brown and aren’t all too large nor small. She also has plenty of freckles that dot her cheeks. Alyss’s ears were pierced when she was a newborn, and she regularly wears fun and goofy earrings, regardless of if it fits her outfit or not.

Mental Description: Alyss is always up for a good time. Flamboyant and adventurous, she’s gotten herself into her fair share of trouble. While of course she tries her best to learn whatever her dad teaches her, she is inevitably more interested in the plants and little critters that populate their yard and nearby parks. She tires her best to be kind to everyone, and considerate. But no one is surprised when Alyss ends up going off on her own and ends up getting as close to the squirrels as she could. She is very carefree and very rarely actually considers her actions and the effect that they may have on herself or others.

Biography: Born to muggleborn mother Francesca Gilmour (née O’Tyre) and wizardborn father Alastair Gilmour, Alyss was always surrounded by a loving family.

Francesca and Alastair met in Hogwarts and had the love story many talk about. Both were broom racers for fun, and were on the team together. Their relationship blossomed from there, graduating Hogwarts within a year of each other, with Francesca job searching first.

With her passion for journalism, Francesca was able to secure herself a stable job as an editor. Alastair soon followed and got a job as an assistant in the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes. Although it took time to save up enough, the two got married in a small ceremony with just immediate family and close friends present.

Two years later, Alyss was born. She came into the world on February 8th, 2013. She was always happy, with parents that tried their best to spend as much time with her as they could, going on outings during days off, taking her to their works when they were allowed. They also hired a tutor for when she reached the age to be homeschooled, but they could only afford the tutor for 3 days a week.

What her parents lacked in money they made up for in love. On the days they couldn’t be there personally nor the tutor, she was dropped off with her maternal grandparents. Although they were muggles, they always accepted Alyss into their home and took care of her. After her FIOM, neither of them batted an eye at Francesca and Alastair’s explanation of the event and continued spending time with their granddaughter.

Alyss soon developed her own interests and hobbies. She became especially attached to animals and plants, but animals more so than plants. She would often try to feed the smaller critters, such as squirrels and rabbits.

At one point, for two years in a row, Alyss really wanted one animal: a Jackalope. For two Christmas’s and birthdays when she was year 6 and 7, that’s all she asked for. Soon, her parents grew tired of explaining to her the fact that the species was native to the other side of the world, and instead took her to the magizoo. Once they showed her a Jackalope, she was delighted, spinning around and laughing with glee when telling others about her experience.

Although Alyss was a half-blood, she did not have much connection to the muggle world. No muggle friends, or even acquaintances. She had a few friends that were wizardborn, one who unfortunately turned out to be a squib, and another of whom went to Hogwarts with Alyss, though they had a falling out beforehand and have yet to reconcile.

Once Alyss got the Hogwarts letter, she had her parents and grandparents alike helping her prepare and hyping her up. Both her mom and dad took a day off of work to go shopping for the supplies needed and to go to the Magizoo for a fun day out.

This reminded Alyss of the day with the Jackalope, and it felt like a full circle moment. Even more so when she heard that her wand had a Jackalope antler core. She then went off to Hogwarts happy, and under threats to write at least once a week.

First Instance of Magic: At roughly 4 years old, Alyss had her first instance of magic. She was giggling as she was trying to play freeze dance with her parents. She was so happy and carefree at the moment that bubbles started to fill the room. Once they appeared, she was overjoyed at the sudden appearance of these bubbles and abandoned any idea of playing freeze dance properly and instead started jumping around the room to pop the bubbles, though she couldn’t reach the ones closer to the ceiling. Alyss’s parents were delighted, and picked her up to assist in the popping of the harder to reach bubbles.
