Physical Description: Ophelia Eabha Byrnes has long, frizzy brown hair, often styled in a tight bun, and her eyes are like stone - grey and cold. Her face is closed, barely allowing her emotions to show, though she strives at all times to maintain an engaging attitude. Her skin is soft and warm like milk-chocolate, and makes her eyes pop. She is tall for an eleven year-old girl, as she's already 150 centimetres tall and stands with an outstanding posture. Always upright, head held high, she walks calmly like she has never been late her whole life.

Mental Description: Ophelia seems cold, at first, and this impression is not untrue per se. Indeed, she is someone who could very quickly become bored in your presence, if she doesn't find you interesting. She doesn't talk much (although when she is, it is with outstanding manners) and her face doesn't show much emotions. In fact, she has been taught not to care much about people who aren't useful to her. Also, she always speaks the truth, or at least when stakes are low.
As such, she might be considered as someone cold, or even mean.
But Ophelia doesn't wish you any harm : it is on the contrary a pretty nice person, even if she always bottles up her emotions. She values honour and justice a lot, and will be very pleased to help you if she understands just how important it is for you to accomplish what you have to do.
Very well behaved, she speaks with a somewhat high-class accent, though surprisingly enough we can hear her Irish accent very strongly - which is not so often thought as "fancy" or high-class.
She is a very hard-working student, and loves to study, on one hand because her parents would be extremely disappointed with average results, on the other hand because she loves knowing stuff and is very curious about the world she lives in. She loves reading, writing and listening and playing music (she plays the piano), but has yet to discover just how much the human spirit can be original and creative (since her family never really encouraged her to be artistic and imaginative).

Biography: Ophelia was born in a rich family. Her mother, Nóra Byrnes, is an Irish wizard, who come from a rich family of Purebloods. She made the dreadful mistake of falling in love with a Muggle, and then marrying him, which was even worse. She now doesn't speak with at least half of her family, but she has managed to keep good relations with some of her relatives. Her father, Andrew Thomas, is a Muggle who was stunned when learning that her lover was a wizard - he is in fact stunned every day, when seeing his wife perform any kind of magic before him. He had the good taste of being as rich as Nóra - if not richer -, which allowed him the right not to be ignored by absolutely all the members of his wife's family.
Both were very much in love, until the weren't, and by the time they reached thirty-five, all love between them seemed to have gone away.

Ophelia grew up in a large house, where not much of the space was actually used, since she was the only children in her family. Her parents had her at a very young age, and her mother then had two miscarriage, before deciding she was never again going to fall pregnant. The little girl was raised with great expectations, but not with much love, since her two parents were not at ease with physical and verbal shows of affection. There was always something going on in the house, some ball held or some guests invited over. She was taught at a very young age to be silent, and to observe how things unfolded under her eyes ; and only when she understood that every act, every word, had a purpose that was she allowed to speak.

Though she sometimes followed her dad in muggle cities, she was always more surrounded by magic. She could see her mom doing basic tasks using her wands, or magical objects ; and her mirror was talking, her at-home teacher was a wizard, her quill wrote words on its own, and after all, her herself considered herself as a wizard in the first place.

She was very excited to go to Hogwarts, and though she didn't know what would happen there, she was sure of one thing : it was going to change her life.

First Instance of Magic: It happened on a cold Sunday, the winter of her fourth year on Earth. The sun was pale, and hidden by menacing clouds which covered the sky. She desperately wanted to go outside, but she couldn't, as heavy rain poured down from the sky. She opened the front door of her house, just to see how much it was raining ; but the wind was strong, and as soon as she opened the door, she was drenched by the water brought by the gusts. She closed the door as quickly as she could, but she was still completely soaked... Or was she ? Might have been the surprise, might have been the sadness of having to show her parents her wet dress, but she became weirdly dry again.
