Elena strikes the eyes of anyone with her bright ginger untamed mane, that she secretly likes to dye with an even more red color. She curiously inspects her surroundings with her round green eyes, and will always have a big smile on her face. Her pale skin, sprinkled with freckles, easily turns reddish, wether she is too hot, too cold, or laughing too hard.
Beside those traits she is a rather normal-looking girl, measuring 1.39 meters tall, not too thin, not too fat, with more endurance and agility than strength.

She is supposed to wear glasses but is rarely seen with them as she does not like wearing something that would restrain her from exploring the wild (and she broke one too many pair to fool around and face her mother's wrath).
She likes to wear earthy-colored clothes with lots of greens and browns, adorned with nature symbols such as mushrooms, leaves, flowers or animals. She always wear her brown leather combat boots that have been strangely holding up despite all the adventures they've been on.

Elena is a very optimistic and curious girl. She always wonders around, looking for new adventures. Climbing trees and collecting rocks are some of her favorite hobbies, as well as looking for small creatures to kidnap - well at least to try to catch and then release back in the wild after showing them to her parents. She can be considered as a little ball of sunshine energy, always laughing and making up stories.
She is also very kind-hearted and will want to help anyone or anything, either a fellow playmate or a little helpless animal.

Despite her generosity she can sometimes be mean, even if she does not intend to : she is sometimes a little bit too honest and brutal when talking to others, and they often misinterpret her words.

Another one of her flaws is her clumsiness : better not let her aproach some fragile glass or precious ceramic, as it is not said wether they will end up intact or shattered in a million pieces.
Her clumsiness is probably due to her lack of focus and hyperactivity. For example if she sees a butterfly she will probably run after him and trip over a side table. This makes her very impatient and unable to sit still for more than an hour.

Elena was lucky enough to grow up in a loving family, surrounded by both her parents as well as many animals ; indeed, her dad, a muggle, is a farmer, and Elena grew up in his small farm just outside Edinburgh, in the small hamlet of Hillend.
She inherited her optimism from her father, Joshua, as well as her love for animals. On the other hand, her mother, Elisabeth, always taught her to do her very best, and gave her her creativity and sense of adventure, as well as her lucious red hair. She probably gets her clumsiness from her life-long bestfriend : her golden retriever, Toby.

As for school, she was home-schooled and learned the basics of muggle knowledge, such as reading, writing and counting, from her dad, and a little bit of history of magic from her mother.

Anyway, Elena could not be more grateful for the environment she grew up in. Maybe the only thing lacking in her childhood is a true friendship : she did make a few friends here and there but appart from her dog she did not build any meaningful relationship.

Elena always knew she would be a witch as it was not a secret that her mother, Elisabeth, was a witch herself, although she only used her magic for houshold chores and to help on the farm.
The little girl was still confused and amused when, two days before her tenth birthday, she tried her favorite sweater and watch it grow bigger and bigger, so much that in the end you could barely see her red hair stick out from the pile of green wool. Fortunately she was alone in her room that day and her mom knew a spell that made the sweater back to its original size. Since then Elena produced a few little magical incidents, mostly when she was too excited, but nothing dramatic.
