Scars: John has a small, almost imperceptible scar on his right cheek, which is normally only noticeable when he smiles, creating a dimple which is not present on the other side. He received the scar after being bitten in the face by a neighborhood dog, whom he had trusted until then. John was born in Orlando, Florida, at 10:10 A.M. on February 19th, 2013.

Mental Description: Quiet and shy around most everyone, John typically only opens up to those he trusts, or when asked about a subject he is knowledgable on. Once he has started talking though, it can be hard to shut him up, and he often does not recognize when others are bored by him. John has fairly severe trust issues, especially with animals or members of authority, the former as a result of being bitten by a friendly dog, the latter as a direct result of his FIOM, and the realization that the world is not as it appears. His distrust of authority figures means he is very unlikely to take anything they say at face value, though this does not extend to any sort of contempt or disrespect. He enjoys reading, writing, learning of any kind, board games, and finding ways to improve things, be that a door that doesnt seem to close right, or finding a faster way to complete his chores. Though typically reserved and calm, he is extremely competitive and accustomed to winning, and can go into a rage when he loses repeatedly. John always likes to know what the plan is, and enjoys staying one step ahead, though he does not like to be in full control, and prefers to act as a 'second-in-charge' whenever possible. He is unbothered by most insults or jabs, but will take exceptional offense if his intelligence is challenged. He hates liars, bullies, and anyone who scorns knowledge. He learns very quickly, and detests being made to repeat things that he already understands, resulting in his grades being mixed, with nearly perfect test scores but abysmal homework grades. Strangely, he also has a particular distaste for music, and would rather not hear it, especially when he is thinking. He instead finds great pleasure in staring quietly at paintings and sculptures, attempting to absorb their symbolism and emotion.

Biography: John is the youngest of 5 children, though he has never had any real competition with them, being 8 years younger than his next oldest sibling. His father is strict, and has always pushed him to learn new skills at an early age, such as piano, painting, and even things like basic electrical work, being a maintenance man himself. John resisted these efforts strongly, which over time caused him to have a very strained relationship with his father. Growing up in poverty, his parents both worked long hours, and though they did their best to spend time with him when they could, he was primarily raised by his older sister, who taught him to read at age 3, and to whom he credits his high intelligence. At the age of 9, his Father was offered a job at an English company, and subsequently moved his family from Orlando, Florida, to Liverpool, England.

First Instance of Magic: Sometime after moving with his family to Liverpool, shortly before his tenth birthday, John suffered a serious injury while out playing. After being bitten by an otherwise friendly neighborhood dog, John was greatly traumatized, panicked, and bleeding from his face, barely able to see through the blood. In his panic to escape the dog, he came to a locked fence, which suddenly burst at the hinges, flying round on its lock and warping significantly. By the time anyone had discovered the twisted gate, John had already had several hours to think while being attended to in the hospital, and felt his entire world had been turned upside down. He decided that he had been lied to, by someone, or perhaps many people, about the true nature of the world. As a result, he claimed to have no knowledge of the twisted gate, and became much more reserved, assuming most everyone has one reason or another to lie to him.
