Elle is a Scottish/Dominican girl with light brown skin and brown eyes. Though, she tends to resonate with her Latina side more. She is very short for her age due to family genetics on her father's side. Her father's family has lived in England for generations and come from the Dominican Republic. Her mother had moved to Manchester on a whim with her then eight-years-old son, Marisa. Three years later, she met Elle's father, who was a part-timer at Flourish & Blotts, while helping Marisa get his school supplies for Hogwarts and when Marisa was nineteen, Elle was born.
Elle is rather plain. She is autistic and she struggles with empathy and isn't very good at expressing her feelings, but she feels a lot. She has quite the obsession with classical literature, her favourite authors being Dazai Osamu and Fyodor Dostoyevsky. She always has her shoulder bag with her. Back in her muggle school, this was a huge problem. As many teachers would try to argue that it was unnecessary of her to have it with her, and it was a distraction to other students. Eventually, they gave up, since she wouldn't be reasoned with and would have anxiety attacks if she was separated from her bag too long; separated as in being in a different room as it. Inside her bag has a few of her favourite books, her drawing tablet, her water bottle, noise-cancelling headphones (mostly used when the noise is becoming overstimulating), an mp3 player, a mechanical pencil kit (she likes the gripper texture), a few stim toys (like rubix cubs and a fidget spinner), and a thick multi-subject composition notebook specifically for note taking on literally anything. Her essentials. Though she may not look like it, she loves heavy rock and likes to dress like she's an aristocrat from the 1800s.
Due to Marisa exposing her to classical literature revolving around reality and philosophy at an early age, Elle can tend to think too deep into things that are rather existential, which started when she was seven-years-old; it started with her asking Marisa things about her existence, the purpose of it, and eventually branched out to her questioning human behavior. She can tend to get confused easily regarding social norms because of this, not understanding why humans are the way they are. This is because she tends to be more logical and rational all the time, while observing how humanity is more reliant on their feelings and opinions all the time, some even unwilling to see logic; those kinds of people disturb her a lot.
Academically, she is a quick learner, never needing to study (unless she wants to for trivia); which can cause her to get easily bored and heavily understimulated. She can be quite mischievous sometimes, using her somewhat advanced intelligence to cause harmless trouble. Whenever she makes a plan, it is usually backed up by two or three other plans to make it as fail-proof as possible; many psychologists have remarked how she had a mind like no other patient they've ever seen and at such a young age!
Unfortunately, Elle's parents died three years after she was born, resulting in her being adopted by her adult brother, Marisa. She and Marisa only share the same mother, making her a half-blood and him a pure-blood.
One time when she was nine, Elle accidentally made her pet frog, Verlaine, very big while playing with him in the backyard garden. He was about as big as the fence, maybe a bit bigger. Despite being familiar with magic, Elle panicked and went to Marisa, asking him why Verlaine got so big and if he would be okay. To which Marisa gently explained that it was a simple spell she accidentally made happen without realising, that it wouldn't harm Verlaine at all, then proceeded to reverse it. That was when Marisa had thought it time to teach Elle about how to have self-control in the art of magic and have her study it early; to give her a head start in life.
