Physical Description: With gray eyes, raven-black hair, and brown skin with more than a hint of red in it, Jenna is a visible mix of races: predominantly Caucasian and Native American, the latter coming from a particular branch of her North American heritage. Her hair is typically worn in a neat, slightly wavy asymmetrical bob, swept to her right-hand side and behind her left ear, kept out of her eyes through the use of low-grade haircare potions.

Jenna's state of dress varies wildly depending on the situation; she is equally at home in practical work-wear such as boots and trousers as she is in the prim, proper skirt and ribbon-tie that she wears with her school robes. Having been raised by a family of Aurors and government officials (spanning two continents, no less), Jenna appreciates the practical functionality of less showy garb, but also the effective value of a "power suit" or formal dress. As such, she can always be counted on to keep abreast of the latest fashions and to look smart when looking smart is called for. The one constant in her choice of outfit is that she always wears whatever she wears properly and with the correct fit, giving the sense of a girl who crosses all of her "T"s and meticulously dots every "I."

Mental Description: Jenna's usual persona is calm and stoic, though her eyes are prone to twinkling with amusement or mischief. She is not unemotional, but rather a person who keeps their feelings behind a curtain until such a time as they can be channeled through action to greatest effect—whether that be by way of a thoughtful birthday gift or a truly devious revenge-prank.

Having been raised by a family with a long history of serving as Aurors or in government offices (though most of that history is only known across the Atlantic), Jenna was raised to hold both justice and law in high regard. She is also quite ambitious and assertive: she dreams of serving the British Ministry in much the same way her father and mother have, and as her grandparents and great-grandparents served MACUSA before them.

Having been raised by a family with largely North American values rather than British, her view on matters of wizard pride and blood purity is far more practical than prideful: she is wary of any course of action that risks wizarding secrecy (including friendship or romance with Muggles) but otherwise has no problem at all with half-bloods or Muggle-borns. After all: failing to integrate such children into magical society is, itself, a security risk. Because of this, she finds many attitudes toward Muggles and Muggle-borns in the United Kingdom baffling, and considers the pureblood lack of regard for learning about Muggle society frankly dangerous.

Due to her connection to her (very affectionate) Native American relatives overseas, Jenna has a strong interest in various magical cultures the world over, and is thus prone to doing research into the many ways and means by which witches and wizards of different cultures perform their magic. This also translates into curiosity about such non-human cultures as those of goblins, centaurs, and merpeople, though she has as-yet had little contact with such and considers human-written information sources suspect.

In terms of following school rules, Jenna is not a stickler, but will more often try to consider ways that she might achieve her goals without running afoul of them (or, failing that, without getting caught), rather than by way of reckless rule-breaking. She will often raise her hand in class if she knows the answer to a question—though she will frequently glance about to see if anyone else looks like they know the answer first, in order to let other students have a moment in the sun if they're swift enough. She takes pride in her abilities, but does not particularly care for overshadowing her peers.

Biography: In the years following the Battle of Hogwarts and the fall of Lord Voldemort, the British magical community found itself short of hands to re-establish order. Several immigrations from other countries occurred during this time. The Graves family, one of MACUSA's highly-regarded Pureblood lines and long possessed of a strong sense of duty, had in fact already participated in the resistance against the Death Eaters internationally. Thus, were only too willing to marry abroad and assist with the cleanup.

Jenna's parents were Aidan Graves, himself an accomplished member of Magical Law Enforcement (though not an Auror), and his wife Alice, a career official with the British Ministry. Aidan's no-nonsense approach to law and justice earned him respect with his peers when he transferred over, as did his lack of any blood-status-related baggage. Alice, meanwhile, was able to provide insight into the local workings of law and government that Aidan lacked.

In the immediate aftermath of the war, the pair achieved much good together, if not much glory: they were both just as willing to work at a desk at need as in the field, and thus were most frequently-assigned tasks that others at the Ministry thought too tedious or mundane for bothering with. It was in working together on such a "boring but necessary" assignment that they met and fell in love.

Jenna was the third child in her family, and while the elder two were sent to learn magic at Ilvermorny (for Aidan was very proud of his school and preferred his children kept far away from still-volatile blood-purity politics), his first daughter was apparently cut from a different cloth. Arguing that she wanted to work in the Ministry here and could hardly get a feel for what British witches and wizards needed and wanted if she didn't grow up around them, she insisted on attending Hogwarts instead, come what may.

While her mother was amenable (she found Aidan's preference for Ilvermorny exasperating), it was Jenna's own vehement insistence that she wasn't "fool enough" to get swept away by blood-purity rhetoric that decided them. And so she was sent to Hogwarts, intent on achieving academic excellence locally so that she could forge her career locally.

The British Ministry could hardly sniff at a girl who earned a solid array of British N.E.W.T.s, after all. It would be challenging, but she would make it happen. And then, perhaps, once she had integrated into the bureaucracy in some effective fashion, she could do something about the last dregs of Voldemort's twisted politics. Burn them with fire and harvest Ashwinder eggs from them, possibly.

First Instance of Magic: At the age of two while playing outside of her parents' home (then situated in a semi-rural neighborhood on London's outskirts), Jenna ran afoul of an ill-tempered hound kept by an irresponsible Muggle neighbor. Said neighbor and several others had to be Obliviated when Jenna accidentally turned the dog into a dog-balloon and it went floating off over the rooftops. The dog was recovered and restored, of course, but as there was no need to modify an animal's memory, it became much nicer as a result... at least when Jenna was around.
