When I got my Hogwarts letter, I was overwhelmed with joy and amazement. It was like a fairy tale come true. Before I got the letter, I was just a normal kid, about to go to secondary school. However, I was really sad, as my best (and only) friend Amy had just moved away. I had a lot of trouble fitting in at school because of my nerdy personality and all the strange things that seemed to happen around me.

The first time something odd happened to me was when I was in Year 1, on a chilly January morning. Upon arriving at school, my classmates and I would usually play outside before our lessons started. That day, my friend Amy forgot her coat. She was shivering with cold when we got to school, but the teacher that usually supervised us was out and her substitute had not shown up yet. I felt so bad for Amy, and I was about to give her my coat to put on when something wild happened. A small bonfire suddenly appeared between us, melting all the snow in a 2-meter radius. I screamed in fear, but Amy barely seemed to notice the fire. She stopped shivering and asked me what was wrong, saying that she had just felt a warm breeze. I never told her what I had really seen, even when similar incidents recurred.
