Celeste Everstell is a fair-skinned girl with very light freckles smattering her cheeks and nose. Her face is shorter in length and she has a pointier chin. Her eyes are a deep shade of turquoise, with average length eyelashes the same color as her hair and brows- a caramel color. Her hair falls in slightly tangled waves down her back. A single strand of dark purple hair marks the side of her hair. She is on the taller end of eleven-year-olds at a height of five feet. Celeste has a relatively long neck. She tends to wear T-shirts in the summer and spring and is most often seen wearing sweaters in the fall and winter. She has long, strong legs and wears a anklet with a small Connemara quartz charm in the shape of Ireland's national animal, the Irish hare, that she purchased from a gift shop on a visit to Dublin, Ireland's capital.

Celeste Everstell has a creative streak and loves artsy activities. She particularly enjoys sketching landscapes of Ireland's rolling hills and Dingle's stunning beaches. Celeste is compassionate and is always looking out for a friend in need. She has always wished that Ireland had a Beta Club, like her best friend Eleanor's home country, the U.S.A., had. Celeste is a justice-craver, and she will jump down on anything she sees as unfair. She defensively holds up her end of an argument and won't take 'no' as an answer if she wants something. Celeste loves science and animals and has always wanted a pet, but her father is allergic to fur and her mother won't allow a reptile or amphibian, and Celeste doesn't want a fish.

Celeste lives on 1 Chapel Lane, Dingle, Ireland in a one story house with her mother, Emilie Everstell, her seven year old brother, Orville Everstell, and her grandfather, Thomas Arium. Her father, Peter Everstell, died in a car wreck when Celeste was three. Celeste doesn't remember him but wonder if the family would've been different had he been more careful. Emilie, a redhead with a taste for baking, believes in manners and teaches Celeste to always be polite. Thomas Arium suffers short-term memory loss and spends his time telling his grandchildren whose names he doesn't remember stories of ancient Ireland. Orville, Celeste's younger brother, always finds new ways to annoy his older sister. Celeste goes to Sacred Heart school, where she sees Eleanor and Deirdre, her best friends. In her free time, Celeste, Deirdre, and Eleanor will go down to the river behind Deirdre's house and wade the river, kayak, talk, or build mini-rafts to race down the water's current. Sometimes the group will read at the beach, and sometimes Eleanor's father, a zookeeper, lets the children in the zoo for free.
Celeste was ten when her first instance of magic showed. Eleanor had the flu, so it was only Celeste and Deirdre at the river. Eleanor was the only one with a phone, and the kids weren't allowed to kayak without a way to contact an adult, and the water was rough. Instead, the two used ice lolly sticks and rubber bands to make tiny boats to race on the water. The boats both were pushed back, and Celeste grew frustrated, as she'd spent her time on that boat and loved the way it looked. They were about to call it quits when suddenly Celeste's boat froze in place. It sat in stasis for several seconds before racing off upstream against the current faster than a car.
