Physical Description:
Aurélie is a shorter than average 11 year old girl with fairy-like features. There is something about her wiry build that makes her seem younger than she actually is. Her golden eyes shine green in the light. They are framed by strong brows and long, slightly wavy brown hair.

Style-wise, Aurélie has an interest in muggle fashion that she inherited from her half-blooded cousins. She prefers to wear dresses and skirts and her main color palette consists of pinks, greens, and yellows. Her hair is often tied up with a ribbon either in a ponytail or half up half down.

Mental Description:
The first impression one would have of Aurélie is that she is quiet. However, this couldn’t be further from the case. Aurélie has an extroverted and talkative personality and thrives when around her friends. However, she can be shy with strangers or people who she doesn’t know yet. Aurélie sees herself as someone mature for her age and will gravitate towards talking to adults or older students rather than those of her age. Her actual maturity level is at level with others of her age but she likes to see herself as “cool” and “responsible.” She has been known to twist the truth occasionally to keep her desired image.

Aurélie is more logic-driven than emotions-driven. She is naturally very curious about the world around her and values “correctness” of information heavily. Aurélie takes comfort in knowing things. If she knows about her environment it allows her to be more prepared for what could possibly come next. She can be uncomfortable and anxious when in unfamiliar situations or when she doesn’t have a plan. When she does have a plan, Aurélie is a confident adventurer.

Loyalty is very important to Aurélie. She is committed and cares a lot about her close family and friends. When she is comfortable, Aurélie has no problem loudly defending herself, her friends, and what she believes in and she expects the same from others. At times, her firmness in her beliefs can bleed into stubbornness and unwillingness to change.

Biography:
Aurélie was born on the 16th of September of 2011 to Genevieve and Rodrigo Vega in New Quay, Wales. She was the only child of the couple but was raised alongside her many cousins and extended family. As a child, she split her time between two estates: one in New Quay, Wales, and the other in Cadaqués, Spain. Both were old and sprawling but perfect for childhood exploration and games.

Genevieve Vega (née Beauchamp) was a French witch who graduated from Beauxbatons with excellent grades. Her success was to be expected given the identities of her parents, both well known cursebreakers. Genevieve’s mother, specifically, was an intense individual who held high expectations of her daughter that caused a rift in their relationship. Genevieve went on to become a mediwitch, having moved from her hometown of Paris to work at St Mungos Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries. Living in London was unsatisfactory to the French witch but she didn’t want to be too close to her relatives. Instead, she settled on the calmer, more serene Wales for her place of residence.

Rodrigo Vega was also a descendent of a pureblood family and a had a similar upbringing to Genevieve. However, the result couldn’t have been more different. Rodrigo was never especially magically talented, much to the chagrin of his parents and relatives. He struggled in school, and, instead, had a fascination with muggle culture and media. After barely passing his OWLs, he went on to study the effects of magic on muggle devices, hoping to someday make a discovery that could assist in the blending of the two spheres. The family member he is closest to is his twin brother, Roberto. Roberto was the better of the pair in terms of magic but it was he who ended up marrying a muggle woman and living a magic-free life in the beach town of Cadaqués.

The pair met during Genevieve’s exhange year at Hogwarts. She was enchanted by the quiet, slightly odd, Ravenclaw wizard and asked him to the yule ball the same year. They stayed together after that, even when Genevieve went back to France. The families met up at the Beauchamp family estate during the summer after graduation and despite neither set of parents being overjoyed with their child’s choice in partner, they both consented to the marriage and were married the next summer.

Choosing a location in which to live was more complicated by far. Genevieve’s parents wished the couple to stay in France, which neither Genevieve nor Rodrigo wanted. Genevieve wanted to live in the Welsh countryside where she could feel comfortable while still being able to access her workplace easily by floo network. Rodrigo’s parents wanted him to move back to Spain with his wife and live in Madrid, the family’s original hometown before they moved to London and their place of retirement. Rodrigo, on the other hand, wanted to integrate into muggle society and live near his brother. They eventually settled on two houses: a magical one in New Quay and muggle one in Cadaques.

Four years after their marriage, Aurélie was born strategically in New Quay. It was her parents’ desire for her to attend Hogwarts as it was a significant location in their relationship and, according to Genevieve, gave a better education than Beauxbatons. She spent the first few years of her life there until her first instance of magic had passed.

Aurélie was 4 years old when her parents split. She moved to Spain permanently with her father and her mother remained in Wales, alone. The estate in Cadaques was a lovely white-washed villa bordering the property owned by Roberto and his family on one side and the beach on the other. Aurélie spent her days playing in the sand and the water with her cousins. She was too young to understand the reason why her mother was not with them but she came to accept that she only saw her around the winter holidays when she visited New Quay. When she was older and asked about it, her father always told her the same thing: “your mother is too in love with her work to be in love with me too.

Because of their physical closeness, Aurélie grew up to see her cousins almost like the siblings she didn’t have. Natalia, the eldest of the group, was 3 years older than Auri but acted like she was 6 years older. She was very much the leader of the group with her take-charge attitude but she made sure the younger ones were happy. She didn’t care much for rules and led her sisters and Aurélie into many adventures and escapades. Auri liked her especially because she would often let her tag along with the “cool older kids” when they went out with no grown ups as long as she wasn’t an embarrassment. Isabela came next, 1 year older than Auri. She was the most quiet of the girls unless music was involved. Her skills in singing, piano, and guitar were incredible for her age and her grades in school were quite good as well. She was the best at coming up with stories for make believe games and comforting the others when they were sad. Sofia was the youngest sibling, two years younger than Aurélie. She was very much the baby of the family with her bright personality and less-than-mature antics. Her sense of humor developed quickly due to being around the older girls from a young age. She has much more sass than the average 9 year old. They were inseparable, from when they were little until the present day. When there was one, you could find the other 3 within a short distance.

At the time Aurélie moved to Spain, Natalia had already started at the local public primary school and Isabela started one year later. Because of their mother being a muggle and their father choosing to live a magic-free lifestyle it was a given that they go through the muggle school system for the first part of their lives. 5-year-old Aurélie wanted to do everything her older cousins did so she begged her father to enroll her in muggle school as well, despite not having any muggle heritage. Her father, being a big advocate for the importance of a combined muggle and magical education, agreed enthusiastically. She started at the same school as her cousins one year later.

Aurélie loved school for the first few years. It was like an adventure to her. She felt like a big girl when she walked down the hill to school each morning. Because Natalia was already 9 and the walk was a short one, their parents allowed them to go alone as long as they stuck together as a group and didn’t talk to any strangers on the way. Once she was at school Aurélie got to learn a variety of new things. Some classes were boring when they had to memorize things or take tests but she enjoyed reading time and the occasional science experiments. Recess and gym class were her other favorite parts of the day. She enjoyed being able to see her cousins and play games like soccer in fresh air. After school they would sometimes stay back to play more with friends. If they didn’t have homework to do they could go to the beach or the pool to swim but otherwise they went home. On Fridays Natalia bought herself and the younger girls sweets with her allowance money depending on the weather and season.

Aurélie grew up by Natalia’s side. Natalia was cool, confident, fashionable, and not afraid to break the rules sometimes. Auri wanted to be exactly like her when she was older. Natalia’s friends were so much more interesting than the kids her own age. They were much more inviting too so Aurélie and Isabela felt less shy around them than their peers. Auri did have friends in her class but, if she had the choice, she would list her older cousins as her best friends in the whole world.

Natalia and Isabela were both admitted to Beauxbatons when they turned 11 years old which was sad for their younger cousin. Sofia was still nearby but she was also set to attend Beauxbatons in the future. Aurélie was born in Wales, making her the only Hogwarts-bound member of the family. She had only visited there for a few weeks each year. Wales was not the place she saw as her home and Scotland was completely foreign to her. From when she was young Aurélie had never been far from her cousins and family. The idea of living apart from them for 7 years was unfathomable to the 11 year old witch.

Her departure was inevitable. On her 11th birthday a freshly sealed Hogwarts letter was delivered to Aurélie at the breakfast table much to the happiness of her father, uncle, and aunt. Her school supplies were bought and a farewell party was hosted in the estate on the day before she left. Whether she wanted to or not, Aurélie was set to embark on a journey of many new adventures.

First Instance of Magic:
Aurélie’s first instance of magic occured when she was 3 years old. Her mother was trying to get her to go to bed but she was not yet tired in the slightest. The unfairness of this episode brought forth rage inside the toddler and the frame of her toddler bed broke underneath her. Surprisingly, instead of getting mad at her for breaking something, her mother ran to show her father before giving her 10 more minutes of playtime before bed. She tried to recreate the situation in the following days but it never worked again after that.
