Physical Description:
Standing at the height of 140cm, long tousled hair cascaded down her head, various shades of blonde and copper married together to form a cohesive ginger shade, the perfect kind of wild. Lustrous light blue eyes - almost a glassy colour, mirrored the waves of the ocean, ever-changing in the feelings they displayed, perfectly complementing the delicate features of her face. Calypso’s pale skin was hardly ever found without a new bruise or cut she garnered from her latest escapades, a fact that only served to cement her adventurous and somewhat mischievous image.

Mental Description:
Calypso is sociable and self-confident, a natural-born leader with an innate charisma. Whilst impatient at times, she is pragmatic, doing her best to make the most logical decisions whenever she can. With a certain degree of ambition, despite her large circle of friends, she is self-sufficient and independent, preferring to work alone to be able to make her own decisions. This want to be the one in control of her life lends itself to a natural dislike for authority and anything restrictive in general. She can often struggle to open up emotionally, choosing to deny vulnerability and avoid situations that she thinks will make her uncomfortable. This lack of emotional depth can also make her lack empathy and sensitivity when regarding the feelings of other people.

Biography:
Calypso was born in a rural village near Wismar in Northern Germany to a single muggle mother. At the time, her mother was barely 19 years of age and after a series of reckless decisions with a lover who jilted after news of pregnancy, Calypso was born. Choosing to continue pursuing university instead, Calypso’s mother left her in the hands of her grandparents. Her grandfather, who despite being of retirement age, continued to work due to the financial issues of her household. Instead, Calypso's grandmother was primarily the one taking care of her. Living in relative poverty, she spent most of her early childhood frolicking and exploring the village's outskirts with a wide forest expanse, accompanied by her grandmother.

A free spirit, once she began to attend school, Calypso had a natural dislike for its rigid schedule and authority. She would’ve spent most of her time dawdling in class if not for the latent ambition buried inside her. Growing up poor with shabby, tattered clothes and meagre portions of food nurtured the want for something better, something more, an aspiration that far surpassed the confines of her village. She would do anything to escape the life she was living, have more control of her lifestyle, and become someone who could make a change.

At the age of 8, her mother managed to secure a well-paying job in England and chose to move there with Calypso. Leaving behind the majority of the friends she had made in Germany, she had to adapt to completely new surroundings. Speaking with a thick German accent that accentuated her foreignness, she found that she greatly disliked living in England despite the better living conditions. Her previous connections were all gone and she wasn’t particularly close to her mother either, having rarely seen the women who worked long hours till Calypso was fast asleep and spent her free time to put in extra effort towards her job. Despite her shorter hours now, their connection was never as strong as Calypso and her grandmother's. Eventually, two years after the move to England, Calypso's mother (now 29) got engaged to another man who began to live with the family of two.

With far less of a social circle compared to Germany, minimal effort was placed into her studies. Calypso possessed a natural aptitude for learning, causing most classes to feel boring to her as they revisited topics she already understood. Instead, most of her time was poured into hobbies or other skills were interested in learning.

[Calypso's father was a wizard, unbeknownst to anyone else but her mother who was told before she became pregnant]

First Instance of Magic:

Calypso’s adventurous streak and love for travelling were what first resulted in her first instance of magic. Once she was 8, with a couple of friends, she was climbing a tree as part of a reckless game the children were indulging in during a break at school. Her hands grasped the rough bark, scrapping her knees as she climbed as she had done so many times in the past. A strong draft of wind came in, and this coupled with Calypso reaching to grab a weaker branch caused the branch to snap. Undoubtedly, a fall from the height which Calypso was at would result in a number of injuries. Panic engulfed her mind as she experienced the sudden experience of freefalling. However, miraculously, upon landing on the ground, she wasn’t injured at all due to her magic activating. Thankfully, the folly of children and the opportune distraction of a school bell ringing to signal the end of the break meant this went relatively unnoticed. However, it still plagued Calypso’s thoughts for days to come, though her suspicions were futile with no connection or idea of the wizarding world.
