Maya Delfind has a soft face but still defined. She has red, rosy cheeks and her nose is a soft pink color. Her lips have a natural pink tint. Maya's eyes are a bluish-green hazel, and her hair reaches down to the middle of her ribs. Her hair is a dark ash blonde. Her hair is also slightly curly, but if she took care of it, it would be curlier. Her eyelashes are long and dark, and her skin is a pale olive. She has two birthmarks: one is on her lower neck, just above her shoulders, and the second is placed in between her shoulder blades. The birthmarks look like splattered paint that's just a tad darker than her skin. She has light brown freckles on her cheeks, nose, and shoulders.

Maya is very shy. She doesn't really start conversations unless someone talks to her first. Sometimes when she gets the confidence, she'll talk to one of the kids in her year. She likes to draw, read, paint, and spend her time exploring the school. In class you can find Maya quietly taking her notes and practicing spells given to her by the professor. She rarely raises her hand and when she does her voice is timid. With friends she is the very opposite of shy. she'll laugh loudly and run up to them in the halls. She likes to spend her free time in the library or in the courtyard. She can be very lazy, sleeping until the middle of the day on weekend or days where there are no classes.

Maya lives in an average house in Edinburgh Scotland. She lives with her mother, Ailsa Belvin, her baby sister, Jacklyn Belvin, and her stepdad, Hugh Belvin. Her mother and father met while he was studying abroad for a year, but he went back to America before her mother knew she was pregnant with Maya. Later on, her mother met Maya's stepfather and they had Jacklyn together. Even after they got married, Maya decided to keep her mother's maiden name. Maya had some friends while she went to a muggle school, but none she was too close with. She mostly stayed home and did her own thing. Maya and her mother speak Scottish Gaelic and use it quite often when talking to each other.

Maya's first instance of magic was when she was hanging out with her newborn sister. Jacklyn was crying very hard after she scratched herself with her nails on accident. Maya panicked and she lightly touched the scratch. When she removed her finger, the scratch slowly disappeared as it healed before Maya's eyes. Luckily her mother is a witch so there was no big surprise when it happened.
