NOTE FOR ADMINS: Hi! So, from what I can tell, this site seems to be running on a real time calendar. (Please correct me if I'm wrong about that.) Since it is almost June and the end of the school year, would it be possible for Verena to be bumped to start in September of 2023? I would like to have time to RP her first year instead of having her go directly to 2nd in a few months. That would put her birthday in 2012 instead of 2011. Please let me know if this is allowed! I'm very excited to write here :D

Verena Flores stands at an above average height for her age, with a lean build that moves gracefully through any space she enters. Her cinnamon brown locks cascade in gentle waves, reaching her lower back.

Her bright, hazel green eyes sparkle when her interest is piqued. She has long, dark lashes that frame her eyes much like a doe's, giving her an innocent and sweet first impression.

Verena's skin is a light tan in color with warm undertones. In the summertime, a few freckles can be seen on her straight nose bridge. She has delicate features that are placed in perfect proportion on her heart-shaped head.

Verena is quite particular with how she styles her outfits. She pays close attention to trends and chooses pieces that follow them. Bright colors are a staple in her wardrobe along with long skirts, lacy tops, and lots of jewelry.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Verena is a bright and spontaneous girl by nature. She is known to be filled with energy and spirit whether it is 5 in the morning or 11 at night. Vera doesn't do well with sitting in one place for too long. She easily gets stir-crazy and prefers to be up and moving whenever possible.

Her thirst for adventure often lands her in less-than-fortunate situations.Vera is far too daring for her own good. She often chooses to disregard potential threats and consequences in favor of an adrenaline rush.

Verena has a major martyr complex. As an oldest child, she sees herself as having a responsibility for the happiness and well-being of others and therefore needs to self-sacrifice in order to keep them satisfied. Verena is an entertainer. She is a natural extrovert who talks to new people and lots of types of people easily. It is her goal to get along with everyone.

Vera often finds herself tempted by the theatrical. She loves to tell stories, some true and some not. Over the course of her life, she has found that the more fanciful her tales, the more attention she gets from her audience. It is a worthwhile trade-off, changing a few measly facts into bigger, better ones, right?

Emotionally, Vera sees herself as someone far more mature than she actually is. She believes that she is fully capable of giving advice and supporting everyone around her when she does not know that much about herself yet or the greater world yet.

Verena is a naive individual who tends to make quick decisions that she later grows to regret. Verena tends to stray from the rule-following path. She loves adventure and, as long as there is no obvious reason why she can't do something, she's probably going to try it out at least once.

The Flores Manor had seen better days. When Eduardo Jose Flores-Marquez had purchased it after emigrating from Barcelona in the late 18th century it had been a posh mansion. The white shingles and marble accents were kept clean and in perfect condition. Ever since Verena can remember, however, the shingles have been cracked and the marble no longer shiny. Even the magical texts in the library were so long out of date that they were practically useless for the purposes of a modern day user of magic.

As the mansion disintegrated, the family line suffered the same fate. Pablo Flores-Sandoval was an incredibly unremarkable wizard. He graduated close to the bottom of his class before moving on. Despite being a Ravenclaw, his wit and creativity brought him nothing other than half-started passion projects that brought his family closer and closer to debt.

He met his wife, Emilia Serrano-Lopez, when working his day job doing paperwork at the Ministry. She came from a pureblood family as well, and one that had met a similar fate of low achievement. They married later that year and had a grand total of seven daughters, all magical, to the delight of their families.

There was never a dull moment in a house with seven young witches. As the eldest, Verena was supposed to be the most responsible one. However, she was more often than not the causer of trouble and the initiator of the several-month-long prank wars that plagued the adults in the house.

Despite not being the most responsible, for better or worse, Vera was still the natural leader of the group. She was always the go-to person whether it was for help with their lessons when they were struggling, a hug when they were feeling down, outfit assistance for special occasions, or any sorts of tricky situation where advice was needed.

Vera was never the best nor the worst in lessons. She shared a tutor with her sisters. Mr. Quinn was an older man with an inflexible way of life. He showed up at the mansion by floo exactly 5 minutes prior to the start time of the lesson in order to set down his papers and arrange his makeshift classroom (otherwise known as the less formal dining room.) He taught the girls what he called his base curriculum, or, as he said, "all the skills a young witch needs to know before Hogwarts." These subjects included basic reading, writing, math, etiquette, wizarding history, piano, drawing, and ballet.

For Verena, she excelled most in piano and ballet as those classes kept her entertained and moving. Math and wizarding history were both bores but nothing was worse than etiquette. Whenever her parents asked for a report on her progress, Mr Quinn (he never let anyone use his first name, nor ask of his marital status, not even the parents of his pupils) would simply shake his head before repeating the same phrase, "Verena is decent. If only she would pay attention to me and sit still, then she would be a fine young lady."

Verena's first instance of magic came when she was only 3 years old. She had been playing with a doll set when she accidentally bumped one of the dolls with her arm and caused it to fall off of her desk and onto the floor. The porcelain shattered with a loud crack and the young girl's face fell, tears beginning to roll down her cheeks as she wept for the loss of her inanimate companion.

Hearing the commotion, her father came to her side in an instant. "What's wrong?" He asked, picking up the doll from the floor as he put an arm around his daughter.

"The doll..." Vera's words were muffled by her crying, "It fell and broke."

Her father's eyebrows arched, confused by the situation. "No, mi cariño. I have it here. It's in one piece," he comforted his daughter, giving her a hug.

Verena's sniffles died out and, as her watery eyes cleared, she could see that the doll was in fact whole.
