Kayla Smith is a kind girl who loves to read but has a passion for zoology and hopes to become a zoo keeper one day. She is confident about her appearance but is easily manipulated by others opinions. She has a fear of the dark and being left behind but tries very hard not to be. Kayla’s first experience of magic was caused by a bookcase. She was getting a book out of the local library (Guide to zoology) and when she pulled the book it didn’t come out so she pulled harder and harder until…. The bookcase fell on her! She was full of fear and held her hands up to defend her self. She had her eyes closed and waited for inevitable death but she waited and waited and nothing happened so she opened her eyes to find the bookcase floating above her.
