Nationality:
English

London, England

27,2 cm chestnut wood and phoenix feather
Physical Description:
Avorra was born albino, a prominent feature being her ivory-colored hair - not totally unusual, considering her Veela heritage. Curiously, she was born with the emerald green eyes of her mother. She has sharp, soft facial features and a small nose. Her ears, rarely appearing from beneath her flowing mane, are also small and unseen. Her skin has often been described as remarkably pale, matching the full moon on a clear, cloudless night. Her height sits a 5'0", or 152 centimeters. Her tallness is a trait she inherited from her father. She has no physical blemishes beyond her face having a tendency to flush from a rush of blood.

Avorra inherited much of her mother's Veela heritage - flawless skin, gorgeous hair, and an impeccable face. Beautiful didn't begin to describe the allure that she had. The only thing she truly lacked was the typical white-gold hair. Her albino genetic condition meant that her hair and skin was devoid of color, for better or for worse. She's been described as a bewitching specter, a breathing ghost that walked amongst the living.

Mental Description:
Avorra can be described as ambitious and exceedingly cunning. She tries to be a step ahead of everyone else, and above all tries to be the absolute best that she can be. Her dreams of being a powerful, memorable witch are what drives her to excel at her Hogwarts studies. Yet, according to the Sorting Hat, beneath her wall of facades is a heart of bravery and courage. Her mind may be of lies and deception, but her heart speaks truth: she is determined and fearless.

She's still a friendly, outgoing person. She enjoys making friends and socializing, as it wasn't a major focus when she was growing up. Her parents didn't allow her to have many childhood friends - learning to control her magic came first and foremost. As such she can be very awkward to social interaction. "Enemies" isn't something Avorra is familiar with either, nor is dealing with those who don't like her. She has been known to be outwardly vicious to anyone she deems to be a foe, for better or for worse.

Biography:
Avorra was born on December 31st, 2010, New Year's Eve. She was born to her parents, pure-blooded wizard Theron Vaylen (nee Helius) and full-blooded Veela Lucille Vaylen. She had a firm childhood - strict, but with plenty of leeway. Upon her first use of accidental magic at the age of two, her mother spent the majority of the time teaching her to control her magical abilities, although that proved difficult due to her mother's Veela heritage. Of course, teaching minors outside of Hogwarts (or any magical institution) was illegal due to magical law, so preemptive homeschooling was out of the question. Rather, her mother spent her time teaching Avorra restraint above all else.

Her father spent his hours toiling with the ministry as an Auror, something Avorra would show interest in as she grew up. He was a lead investigator in the use of the Dark Arts and Dark Artefacts. In areas where an expert was needed to identify objects and persons of interest, he was sent in. His most famous achievement was solving the murder of a squib in one of London's wizarding villages. The case went cold for almost a year, before a chance reinvestigation at the scene of the crime led to groundbreaking insights.

Avorra's upbringing was hard at first, being that her innate magical abilities were difficult to control - 'hellish', by her mother's words. Her unstable magic manifested most commonly with her emotions. A fit of rage would lead to burning curtain tails, a fit of sorrow would lead to black clouds hovering in her room. Her mother's lack of understanding wizard magic meant that alternative methods of teaching were required. Her parents' neighbours graciously agreed to help with regulating Avorra's emotional instability.

Eventually, by learning to control her emotions, she was able to reel in her accidental magic use by the age of seven. Her father once described her as a magical conduit of untapped potential, by which magic flowed through her like a raging river crashing against a sturdy dam. Theron's own grandfather, Sol Helius, was the last person in the bloodline to exhibit raw magic of such a degree.

Whether the claim had any truth to it or was simple rubbish is to each one's own. Avorra is no more powerful than any other student her age. A natural ability to manipulate magic is nothing to the untrained. Dangerous, yes, if only more to herself than she is to others. There has been several incidences where her mother has had to rescue Avorra from herself, calming her before she could be consumed by her own emotions.

Although her mental restraint had greatly improved over the years, she had one last instance of accidental magic use at the age of ten. Avorra snuck outside one day as her mother, tired and exhausted, lay resting in the living room. As she was playing outside, twirling in a pile of leaves, a stray dog came upon her. At first, it was friendly. She pet the animal as though she'd known it all her life. Being the child that she was, she made the mistake of tugging at its ears. Unfortunately, the hound's ears had been recently infected, and were painful to the touch. Without warning, it leapt at her in an attempt to maul her face.

The moment its teeth pierced her skin, she let out a loud cry and instinctively let out a burst of magic in self-defence. A ring of flames came forth from her, shoving the dog away from her. Although it did no harm, it was enough to scare it away. Her mother came to her aid, admonishing her for being outside without supervision. Realizing her daughter had been hurt, her anger turned to regret and she quickly cradled her while apologizing for lashing out. She was immediately taken to St. Mungos for treatment.

Her father came home later that night, at first scared for his daughter's sake. Later that night, however, he congratulated her on defending herself - to her mother's chagrin. He saw the attack as something to be proud of, not ashamed of, as it was proof enough for him that one day she'd become a great witch like her great-grandfather before her. The attack has, however, left Avorra with a profound fear of hounds.

Avorra received her Hogwarts acceptance letter on December 31st, 2021 - her 11th birthday. She's excited as ever to attend the school that her parents attended before her, the school she's heard all about growing up, the school that she's only ever caught glimpses of in books and her parents own photography.

First Instance of Magic:
At the age of two, while she was still in the crib, Avorra's mother lulled her to sleep one night using a magical crib mobile situated above her. Lucille forgot to turn it off, leaving it to run magically throughout the night. Avorra woke up, annoyed by the sound that now prevented her from sleeping.

Avorra instinctively reached out for it, unable to touch it, and unintentionally shattered it with a small burst of magic. She quickly went back to sleep, but her mother came back the next morning to find the device in pieces. She alerted Theron, to which both of them celebrated at Avorra's first sign of magic. They spent the rest of the night planning on how to properly raise their child, now that she was exhibiting these signs.
