max grew up between a flat in london, and a university in paris. her mother was an auror, and disappeared for many lengths of time, so max often travelled with her father, a linguistics professor. she grew up among university libraries with a collection of muggle students as her mentors. her one close friend was aisling claremont, her neighbour and eventually a schoolmate. when max was invited to hogwarts, she had to leave aisling without a promise of any communication. pre-hogwarts, max was a troublesome child and often was reprimanded by teachers for not paying attention or obeying their commands. she dislikes school very much, but still has a tiny shred of hope that hogwarts might be better.

first instance of magic

max’s first instant of magic happened when she was held in after school by her teacher for doing something she did not do. the teacher kept telling her to admit to what she did, almost forcefully. eventually, out of frustration, max snapped and all the windows in the classroom shattered. the teacher had to get his memory erased, but max does not regret it.
