Ava is, by all standards, a nerd. Something about the way she scans pages with her eyes gives you a weird thought. She’s devouring the words, not reading them. There’s something about the way her eyes light up when she’s excited that can’t help you feel excited too. When she decides to do something, she devotes herself to it. One thing that can happen is her temper gets the better of her. Many would say that she is quite moody and, if she’s not in a mood, she’ll agree. Easy to embarrass and hard to impress, she believes a little trouble is the way to keep things interesting. Her talents are amazing, but she blushes when you mention them. She’s not trying to show off her talents, but her temper and her hair are never quite the same as the last time you saw her.

Ava has golden brown hair with barely noticeable blond highlights. She’s skinny, but not to the point of being bony. She is tan but not golden. Her skin is more of a pale tan. Her eyes are what she describes as ‘flat brown’ though others would say ‘brown with the youth only one with a free spirit could have’. She always wears some type of jewelry, whether a necklace or bracelets. When in school she only wears her school robes when in classes and never in her free time. In her free time it's muggle clothes, for comfort or for style, though always one of those two.

Ava’s mom and dad were both Irish, and Ava was born in Ireland, but after she was born they moved to London. Ava’s mom died when she was born, leaving her and her muggle dad. Her dad remarried later and brought a step-brother and half-brother into her life, both of whom she loved very much. Her step-mum never really mistreated her, but she didn’t go out of her way to be nice either.

Ava is walking home from school when she trips over a rock and falls into a pool of cement that’s being layed down for the new road. Ava is able stand up and walk out of it clean and unhurt. Ava realizes something must be wrong with her and doesn’t tell anyone, thinking she is the only witch until her letter comes.
