Physical Description:

Nessa is pale due to both their living in Scotland up until moving to Hogwarts and due to their anemia condition, with enough freckles from the sun they do get not look like a sheet of paper. Bright red hair that goes down to their shoulders that they hand cut into what was trying to be a mullet after seeing one on tv.
With a nervous habit of playing with their hair, there are always a few braids scattered through it. Eyes a light hazel and a gap in their teeth from a lost one that never grew back the same. 5 feet in height and am happy about it until anybody else mentions it.
They're clumsy and with their condition bruise easy and it's not uncommon for them to be sporting a bandage or two at anytime. The condition also keeps them chilly. And it is more likely than not to see them bundled up in sweaters and layers.

Mental Description:

They're excitable and funny or at least trying to be. Where school was never one of their strong suits the idea of magic and being able to do it is enough to keep them focused on their studies. Soaking up any information that is thrown their way. Though they are eccentric in behavior it's an almost charming trait. From dropping facts on any conversation they hear whether or not they are part of it.
Their emotions can shift easily. A small tip in their mood and what was smiles can quickly become sadness or anger until corrected.
The mood shifts apply to the ones close to them always. It's happened many times before that they have dropped friends or found hate in strangers simply for hurting someone they care for. Not bothering to form an opinion on their own, caring more about the well-being of friends than the chance to maybe make a friend out of them.

Biography:

They were muggle-born. Born to a no-magic father and mother. Though when they were very young a messy divorce left them living with their grandmother Hilda McDonough. Hilda raised them like her own and while old had enough energy to keep up with the chaotic child. Teaching them stories about "magic" and folktales about the creatures living in the backyard and how to befriend them. Not knowing some of them were real yet. Hilda believed in magic herself even if it was a different version than what was true for her grandchild, she was surprised but not unbelieving when the letter came
.
Hilda- An old woman, well into her seventies and looking for someone to care for. With her only son moving away and living his own life and her husband having passed Hilda wanted someone to keep away the loneliness. Nessa caring for her on days when she's too tired to play and settling for indoor games and movies. Everything Nessa knows about life was taught to them by her nan (Hilda).

First Instance of Magic:

Hilda had raised them with folklore as bedtime stories. Faeries and the elements as something alive. Promising that the ground would always break their fall with something soft and the wind would be there to catch them. So when at ten years old, freshly recovered from their last attempt at climbing the old tree in the back garden, they trusted that the ground would not break their arm. Again. They went even higher until the branches were thin and dry and one broke under their weight. They fell. But before they could hit the ground the breeze picked up and wrapped around them, dropping them onto the ground from inches instead of feet. A few months later on their 11th birthday, an owl dropped a letter into Hilda's hands.
