Isla isn't quite a sight to behold. The young girl bears a face speckled with freckles, fine and greasy locks (she has more important things to do than wash her hair!), and a lean and a rather lanky figure at 152cm, a sickle taller than most of her peers. Isla bears a head of wavy ginger and eyes of icy blue; her greatest weapon when it comes to passive aggression.

Isla is quite the oddball in her family of social butterflies. She groans when dragged to social events, awkwardly watches the clock tick at family gatherings, and pouts whenever she's forced to attend some kid's party. She can come off as arrogant and critical of anyone she disagrees with, often believing she's always in the right.

Despite her cluelessness in social situations, she makes up for it with maturity. Isla has a rational mind, constantly analyzing, never at rest. She is always thinking through every step she takes, side glancing at anyone coming too close. She is very independent and prefers marching to the beat of her own drum. She's determined and not easily swayed by meaningless judgers.

Isla loves to learn. The thought of expanding her knowledge gets her excited. She is almost always found buried in a book or watching a documentary. Isla's used to being the know-it-all, which makes Hogwarts daunting. She knew no spells, how could she come out on top? Isla scoured the internet for information (with no luck) and interrogated her parents about the wizarding world. This was going to be the biggest change in her life.

On a dreich night in May, 20011, Harriet Ainsley gave birth to Isla, her father James Ainsley watching close by. The girl was the oldest of three siblings - Masie, Glen, and herself. Her mother was a squib while her father was a wizard. Her father's side frowned upon him for marrying a squib; Isla wasn't to be associated when them and would never meet her uncle or grandparents. Luckily, her mother's side was a lot more forgiving, anxious to have a magical grandchild. Isla was a late bloomer at 8 when she blew up the lightbulbs in her small house. Her family was elated that at least one of their children could attend Hogwarts; her sister Maise had already burped bubbles, so chances are that she would join Isla when her time came.

Isla's family wasn't poor, rather well off due to her father's small place in the Ministry. They lived in a little bungalow in Perth, where she attended an ordinary muggle school in the case that she came out non-magical. She excelled in her primary education with a particular knack for science. She was anticipating the letter of acceptance, but Isla wasn't too fond of the idea that she would be bottom of her class. What if the other students already knew spells? In the holiday before her departure, Isla scanned every book and begged her parents for more texts, thoroughly prepared for Hogwarts - or so she thought.

Isla's first instance of accidental wandless magic occurred at 8 years of age in her house. Her brother and herself were immersed in an argument, screaming at the top of their lungs. Her mother had stormed in and grabbed her by the arm, scolding her for bickering so loudly. Isla tried to protest that it wasn't her fault but her mum was having none of it and told her to go to her room. Fuming, Isla stomped away, and after three steps there was a spark of electricity as the lightbulb exploded right above Glen and her mother. She was punished accordingly, but her parents couldn't help but be excited that their daughter was a wizard, albeit a grumpy one.
