Antonia James Greenwood Go, usually known as Nia, was born on the first of October of 2009. She is a very tall and skinny child — at only eleven years old, she's almost 164cm, making her the tallest kid in her year at her previous muggle school. She loves wearing colorful, flowy clothes full of interesting patterns. She cuts her dark brown hair to be very short, almost boyish, because she enjoys the contrast it makes with the unapologetically ultra femenine way she has of carrying herself. She has a cheerful, confident air around her and she always walks with a smile on her lips and her chin up. She smells of honey, jasmine and clementines.

Her big, round, doe-like hazel eyes look brown most of the time, and they twinkle when she laughs. Although she can get to be really pale, especially during long periods without sun, she will quickly get her tan skin back during summer, and she can get quite dark if she spends some time back home in Gran Canaria during those months.

She's half white, half Spanish-Filipino. She has not gone a single day of her life without earrings, and she is convinced that it will stay that way. She embroiders the most boring pieces in her closet with flowers and stars to make them pop up.

There is not a single person in the world that can convince Nia to do something that she doesn't want to do. She is, quite literally, the most stubborn person on Earth. She may be reasoned with, sometimes, but that is no garantee that she’ll change her mind.

The best way to persuade her to do something is to either bribe her with something she wants (wether that is a physical thing, food or an activity she wants to do), or by appealing to her sense of loyalty and friendship. She is weak to puppy eyes, and will immediately feel guilty saying no if her friends act like they really, really want her to do something.

Her sheer obstinacy and her high self-esteem make her almost completely immune to other people's thoughts and comments. She is not one to stop doing something she wants to do, no matter how ridiculous, just because of what people may think or say. Insults don't seem to affect her, and she always has a nice comeback ready for you if you dare to try.

She is not a very patient person and has no limits when she gets mad. She knows she isn't likely to win in any type of physical fight, but she absolutely will try to hit you if you annoy her too much (and she might not be very strong, but her legs are very long, so beware of her kicks). She is not likely to try and hex you, though, since she only gets violent on impulse, and because she grew up without magic, her impulses don’t include wands.

Nia tends to come off as flirty, even when she isn't necessarily trying to flirt at all: she uses nicknames like Darling or Baby on everyone she meets, she is prone to casual touches and fixed stares, and she loves to compliment people on their looks, skills or personalities. She knows that this is the impression she gives, and she has no intention of changing it. She finds it really fun to see people flustered, and even more fun when someone flirts back with her, even as a joke.

She can also be quite vain for a girl her age. She can't help but stare at her own reflection for a couple of seconds every time she passes by a reflective surface. She likes to paint her nails and make sure her hair is perfectly in place, and even though according to her parents she's still too young to use make up, she will always sneak in a little bit of lip tint and gloss.

Biography:

Nia was actually born in Gran Canaria, Spain, to a Spanish-Filipino mother that worked as a seamstress and a British software developer father. Two years later, her sister, Amaya "Maya" Devin Greenwood Go, was born. The sisters got along tremendously well from the get go, and they always spent a lot of time together. Even when Nia was playing with people her age, she always made sure Maya was included. She once almost bit a kid's ear off because he dared to push Maya during a game.

She spent the first six years of her life in the small and sunny Spanish island before moving to England in 2015, when her father was offered a better job in a software design company. Although her mother is originally from the Philippines, Maya and Nia have never visited the country and can only speak a few sentences of Tagalog, since everyone usually just speaks English or Spanish at home.

Used to the sunny weather from the Canary Islands, Nia wasn't very happy with their new home in the UK. She hated the rain, the trees, the cold and the fact that she had to leave her friends behind. For weeks she refused to speak a single word of English, speaking only Spanish as a way of protesting against the situation. She would also not respond when talked to in English. This wasn't that big of a deal at home, but school could be quite tricky when you refused to listen and speak to anyone at all, teachers included.

She started having trouble with accidental magic during this time, since she was sulking and mad all of the time. Sometimes, her parents would find the door to her room locked and could not for the life of them unlock it. Sometimes, curtains all around the house would disappear never to be seen again. However, they could have tried to find a logical explanation for those events had there not been one time where they had found all of Nia's stuff levitating in her room during a nightmare.

Anyway, two things happened that warmed her up to life in the new country: the first was Christmas. She had never really had a wintery Christmas before, with a fireplace and snow and a large house in where to put up a real Christmas tree, so this was all very exciting for her.

The second thing, was her Christmas presents.

Father Christmas had given her a lovely new wardrobe full of beautiful wool dresses, hats, leggings, rain boots and coats that would make her look like the most fashionable 7 year old in the whole country. Nia finally decided that the rainy weather was acceptable if she had the opportunity to wear all of that.

After that, things went better. Nia started opening up to people at her school and made a lot of new friends, including Maddy and Rory, who are now her two best friends in the world. By this point, Nia had a vague understanding of the fact that she could do magic sometimes, and although she tried to convince her friends that she really, really had powers, she never managed to make them work when she wanted to, so they never believed her.

She received her Hogwarts letter one lazy Saturday afternoon, by the hands of a member of the staff. While the revelations of the existence of a magical world was something that look like it had just jumped out of one of her books, neither Nia nor her parents could say they were much surprised by it. They had all learnt to accept things they could not explain long ago without questioning them too closely, so this was just the last piece of the puzzle. Nia tried to play it cool in front of the man that delivered her letter, head held up high and back straight, but as soon as he closed the door behind him she and Maya started dancing and screaming. She could not sleep that night.

First Instance of Magic:

When Nia was six years old, right after moving to England, she accidentally changed the colour of all of the clothes in her wardrobe to be a lovely shade of lavender during a terrible tantrum, after her mum had refused to change her red outfit into her favourite purple dress. Her mum was convinced she had gone insane when she saw it happen, but Nia was quite pleased with herself... for a while. When the purple ultimately faded away and she got bored of her clothes again, she decided to take matters into her own hands and redecorate every single piece of fabric within her reach with her permanent markers.

Her parents had not been able to explain the incident at all, but they were also not that surprised. Nia was just so stubborn that if anybody was to be capable of changing the colour of all of her clothes using nothing but pure will, they had no doubt it would be her. And, honestly, it really had been a lovely shade of lavender.

The markers, however...
