Physical Description: Cian is a boy who is a little scrawny, perhaps even a bit pathetic-looking. Red hair is offset by surprisingly not-pale skin, given mixed heritage. His eyes, mostly brown, are tinged with flecks and dashes of green in them. Being an eleven year-old boy, Cian has not hit his growth spurt yet—and when he finally does, it will be at a later age than most of his classmates. He would be cute if he didn't look either terrified or absolutely out-of-it most of the time.
Mental Description: Cian is shy, introverted, and bad at talking but nonetheless kind. A bit of an enigma, Cian is equally as afraid of recognition as much as he wants it. Born with an innately soft heart, Cian cares deeply about helping others but has a hard time of going about that. Deeply insecure, Cian views himself as unhelpful and, frankly, useless unless he is able to tangibly aid someone in completing something or giving them something, and can often come across as a touch strange or overbearing in doing so.
Cian is not a black hole of shame and panic, however, and is a surprisingly sharp and ambitious mind that can grow quickly frustrated when he is not able to gain what he desires. Those desires are not all purely altruistic, however, and within Cian lies a spirit that wishes to be great on his own merits, so that he may no longer feel the need to prove himself. Cian dislikes and actively represses this part of himself, and as a side effect does not seem to have a great affection for the Wizarding World—wanting to make a life for himself outside of it.
Generally speaking, Cian does not speak unless spoken to and will only forge close relationships over very long periods of time with very few people—though it is possible he could improve at this.
Biography: Cian was born the illegitimate child of plain, Scottish muggle woman Imogen Downsborough and renowned, pure-blood, nearing-on-noble wizard Alexei Alzahrani—English-born but of Russian and Saudi descent. His existence was not known of from Alexei for the first four years of his life, and he, himself did not know of his father for the first six years of his life. Naturally quiet, sensitive, and anxious, Cian suffered from bullying and had essentially no friends growing up—preferring the company of his mother and books, which he read high above his age.
His mother, an accountant who worked as a freelance designer, was worried for his slow social development but nonetheless was endlessly loving and supporting. As his social life continued to flounder, his mother began to look for ways to help. A few words his father had carelessly spoken on the night they met had led to Alexei being outed as a wizard to Imogen and to Imogen alone—a consequence of her being more bright than she was ever given credit for. Panicking, Alexei told her to keep quiet and never tell a soul, and that he would not hesitate to take drastic measures if she did.
His father learned, somewhat worriedly, of his existence in the year 2014. His father apologized for the threatening tone he had spoken to her in and saw Cian, sleeping, for the first time. He had his hair. Alexei was immediately smitten, but as an divorced man with two pure-blood children from a past marriage he found it rash to introduce Cian into their household, but came back for semi-regular visits in the night. Imogen held off until a particularly bad row of weeks when Cian was ten, when she told Alexei that Cian might be better off in the Wizarding World—that maybe that was where he was meant to be.
Cian first saw his father in a tense meeting, and did not seem particularly interested in his father or whatever he was speaking of. If anything, he seemed a bit frightened. Being himself, Cian eventually acquiesced and was raised half-and-half between his father and mother, going with his father during most holidays and summers.
