Physical Description Luka is a boy with olive eyes, strong features, and an unruly mop of dark hair. He has a tanned complexion, which is frequently marred with a sunburn during the summer months as he can never be bothered to magically heal something so minor. He smiles frequently, but rarely with his teeth, though if you catch him doing so you'll notice the slight gap between his front teeth.

His build is very compact, neither very tall nor broad, but he is lightly muscled from spending extensive amounts of time clambering around in the wilderness. His knees are covered in marks from skinning his knees on the playground, and old scars litter his arms. A long scar, trailing from his hip to his ribs, decorates his torso after falling out of a tree. He retains these scars as a testament to his non-magical childhood, and didn't wish to use magic to remove them due to sentimentality.

Mental Description Luka is careful and thoughtful, and very meticulous in everything he does. His every decision is calculated, but hindered by his naivety and general ignorance regarding the world, both magical and muggle. He is idealistic, allowing him to see the best in everyone, but prevents him from understanding the nuances in various problems.

Insensitive but sincere, Luka has no qualms about approaching anyone about anything. He doesn't hesitate to ask intrusive questions, but always carefully considers before responding or commenting. His speech contains no issues, but can make him seem a little eccentric. Always friendly, but always a little out of the loop.

Biography
Concise Version: Luka was born to a pure-blood mother disowned from her family and a muggle father. Their relationship ended in divorce, whether Luka's childhood should be magical being a major issue between them. At three years old, his father took him away from his mother to a rural muggle village in Ireland, where he lived under the name "Cyprus" unaware magic existed. He returned to his mother at nine years old, and was only then introduced to magic.

Full Version: Luka is a half-blood. His mother is from a pure-blood family, and in phase of teenage rebellion, started dating a muggle man in secret. She ended up pregnant with his child at nineteen, and defied her family for him and her unborn child. They were quickly married, and nine months later, Luka Sylvester was born.

Unfortunately, they were married too early, and soon they found their relationship wasn't meant to be. They had too many opposing values from their different backgrounds, which drove a wedge between them. They also disagreed about whether Luka should be raised in the muggle world or the wizarding world, which was a major point of contention between them. They divorced soon his birth, but continued living together both out of necessity and for Luka's sake.

Luka’s father refused to let his son be raised in a magical environment, and wanted Luka to have a normal muggle life, so he brought him to a rural coastal village in Ireland. There, they assumed new identities and Luka largely forgot about his infancy with his mother.

While living there, Luka changed his name to "Cyprus" to hide his identity. Cyprus spent his childhood unaware of his magical heritage, enrolled in a muggle elementary school and spending his free time exploring the wilderness. He grew up running through the woods with his friends and climbing the rocky cliffs at the beach.

Cyprus had a very good, but relaxed relationship with his father. His father had a very hands-off parenting style, giving the boy essentially free-reign over what he wanted to do, causing the child to be outdoors more often than not. Cyprus was well educated in reading and math, but his rural village meant his education in global issues and history was highly limited.

Unfortunately, Cyprus' father began suffering from worsening mental health. He looked for help and decided to check himself into a psychiatric ward mere days before Cyprus' ninth birthday. Being in the medical system ruined the anonymity he spent so long building, and Cyprus' mother took the boy back to Dublin while his father was in treatment.

Luka took back his birth name, albeit somewhat reluctantly. After an incident of accidental magic shortly after moving in with his mother, he was given a more magical education and introduced to the wizarding world in preparation of entering Hogwarts when he turned eleven. His mother offered to remove the scars he gathered over the course of his magic-less childhood, but he refused, seeing them as fragments of his life with sentimental value.

Contrasting his father, Luka's mother is very warm and attentive, if a little nagging, almost as if she's making up for lost time by smothering him in affection. Her efforts are not unappreciated, and Luka builds a decent relationship with her before he leaves for Hogwarts.

First Instance of Magic: Luka's first use of magic was very underwhelming. He knocked a cup of milk off the table, and dived to catch it. He missed, but the cup levitated itself an inch above the ground. His mother saw the incident, and began his full integration into magical society.

The incident was a surprise, as nine years old is quite late for a first instance of magic to occur. However, Luka’s mother believes he could have performed magic with less obviously magical effects when he was younger, or accidentally used magic away from the watchful eye of any adults, therefore leaving the incidents unreported.
