Physical Description: Archer is fairly average in height as far as 11 year olds go (around 4 feet, or 56 inches) - his hair is brown, styled in an upwards lick and his eyes are a sort of darkish blue; his nose is a bit larger than most but it's generally not noticeable unless pointed out - something Archer is fairly sensitive about as large noses run in his family.
Mental Description: Archer is, by all appearances, quiet and withdrawn to most; he doesn't seem to like large crowds - in his words, "It's like an ant colony to me - cramped, everyone's moving and swarming around, and I'm that one ant who has absolutely no clue what's going on and who'd rather be doing their own thing." That doesn't mean, however, he's antisocial; in fact, he's quite the opposite - incredibly sociable if rather awkward due to being homeschooled up until coming to Hogwarts; however, Archer is rather wary to strangers and it takes a while before he warms up to anyone. He's relatively disinterested in actual schoolwork, being only concerned with his base needs and wants - those being comic books (something that perplexes the more "old family" types of students and can't be found easily in Wizarding society), food, drink, and sleep. That doesn't mean he won't try his best to pass.

Biography: Born in Liverpool to Argus Elderberry and Alexis Lawson, Archer's father came from a rather obscure pureblood family - appropriately enough for a man with the last name Elderberry, Argus' family made their fortune in the wine business; never ones to buy into supremacist ideology (partly due to an egalitarian code of honor and partly due to pragmatism), the Elderberries sold their wares to both wizards and muggles alike and became modestly wealthy as a result. Argus met his future wife Alexis at a party and fell very nearly in love at first sight. Their courtship, while unsteady initially due to the revelation of Argus' wizarding heritage, ended up in marriage and Archer's birth. Due to his mother's progressive anti-establishment social and political beliefs, Archer was homeschooled up until he received his Hogwarts letter. While his mother wasn't keen on the idea of him going to a boarding school due to her own rather bad experiences at Rugby, Archer persuaded her that he should go after hearing his father's stories from his days in Slytherin.

First Instance of Magic: Archer's first instance of wandless magic occurred at the age of around 5 or perhaps 6, when at a playground with his father. Archer had bought a rather old back issue of The Mighty Thor from a stand and had been quietly reading it at a bench, his father nearby and talking to a muggle friend. In the middle of his quiet reading, an older boy of perhaps ten had decided to, for whatever reason, take said comic book from young Archer's hands and not give it back unless Archer decided to do the boy's rather humiliating bidding, which included eating grass and dirt, spinning around until he was dizzy, and calling himself a "nappy-wearing ninny". The humiliation and stress of it all caused Archer to lash out at the boy - so much so that Archer let out a discharge of accidental magic, wresting the comic book from the bully's hands and knocking him backwards.
