Robert has a thin, angular face, medium-length black hair, and pale-grey eyes. He wears black, angled glasses which are surprisingly successful at hiding the growing circles under his eyes. His skin is a pale white upon his rather slender, bony frame. Friends would argue that he is the spitting image of his mother, Oleana, had it not been for the coarse black hair he shares with his father Rory.

The most apt way of describing Roberts personality would be that he has an analytical mind, to be frank, almost to a fault. He absorbs knowledge like a sponge and is always looking for new ways to challenge himself. It would be an incorrect observation to assume that he is kind or sociable, in fact, he can appear callous. While he does not recoil from cliques or groups, he most often simply does not see the point in getting invested in the drama.

Perhaps, it is simply that he lacks the friends necessary to open his tough outer shell.

Before his acceptance to Hogwarts, Robert grew up in the small seaside town of Burghead in Moray, Scotland. Being a pure-blood, his parents introduced him to the rudimentary usage of magic in daily life from the moment he was born. His father being a Ravenclaw alumnus, knowledge was always highly coveted in the Shilling household. Moreover, his mother Oleana, an alumnus from Durmstrang, made sure Robert learned early not to reveal his hand to anyone. After all, you never know what your opponent has up their sleeve.

"Remember this, my boy. Posture, eyes, confidence, and cunning. Never show yourself to be weak."
- Oleana Wallin

First Instance of Magic
As a result of growing up so close to the ocean, much of his early years were spent there. Braving the open seas with his parents was, at the time, the height of excitement for his young mind. It comes to no surprise then that his first and only accidental instance of magic came during a moment of pure bliss out on the waves where he, for the first time, witnessed a Conger Eel gliding effortlessly along the seafloor. In an exclamation of delight, Robert's hair shifted from its natural black to a vibrant aqua hue. His parents were joyful about the event regardless of the fact that the colour only lasted for a few days.
