Asteria is of Asian (Korean) descent so she has brown hair that is dark enough to be mistaken as black at times. Currently, her hair is past her shoulders in length and she has bangs. She has dark eyes. While she has a cute appearance due to her bunny teeth and short stature, she is actually quite intimidating in personality.


Asteria doesn’t mind having attention to herself but she doesn’t strive to be the center of attention either. The Korean-Scottish girl isn’t afraid to speak her mind when she agrees with something. She was mostly raised by her maternal grandmother who encouraged her to lead others and let her voice be heard while still being polite.

She’s an organized sort of person who rarely loses her belongings, though she doesn’t like to be restricted to a tight schedule, preferring to follow her own path that is catered to her wants and needs. Perhaps it is because of this that she has trouble controlling her impulses and chooses to do what she wants (but in a way that doesn’t break any rules of course). Asteria is a fairly ambitious child, with many short-term goals but she’s still trying to figure out what her long-term goals are. Whatever they may be, she is sure to complete them.

While she listens with respect to those older than her, if she faces some sort of injustice or inaccuracy, she’s not afraid to point it out even if others may adamantly disagree with her. She was taught that conflict cannot truly be avoided, so it’s better to face it, head-on rather than cower to the whims of others. She’s punctual, often turning in her work early or right on time but never once late.

While she won’t go out of her way to help others, if it’s requested of her, she will help without complaint. If you wrong her, she’s not afraid to hold a grudge or be less willing to help you. She is actually quite competitive and will do possibly anything to win.

If one were to place her in a type using the Myers-Briggs personality test, Asteria would be placed as an ENTJ (52% Extraverted, 62% Intuitive, 84% Thinking, 51% Judging).


Asteria was born in Daegu, South Korea to Lee Minseok, a businessman with a small kimbap restaurant, and Marianne Nam, a Korean woman from Scotland. They quickly fell in love and married only a year after they met, with great resistance from Marianne’s mother in Scotland, Titania Nam.

A few months into their marriage, Marriane became pregnant with twins. However, during an exam, there was only one heartbeat to be heard. It was concluded that Marianne had experienced vanishing twin syndrome and she had lost one of her twins. There are some complications that can be found in a twin who had experienced vanishing twin syndromes such as a very low birth weight and the chance for a baby to not grow as well as they should which is what happened to Asteria when she was born.

In the two years of Marriane and Minseok’s marriage, Minseok’s kimbap business boomed to an international level. Perhaps this was the primary reason that when Marianne died two years later due to a car crash that Minseok found that he could not adequately take care of his two-year-old daughter and so sent her to live with her maternal grandmother in Scotland until she was of age or her grandmother died.

Life in Scotland wasn’t all bad. Her grandmother was strict but had many stories of Marianne growing up in her grandmother’s house. Her grandmother taught her many life lessons that shaped Asteria’s current personality. When she was eleven, she found a member of the Hogwarts staff at her door ready to explain Asteria’s magical nature. While at first and her grandmother were disbelieving, once the staff member had shown proof, they quickly took to the idea of a new world existing alongside the one they already knew. After all, it wasn’t that far-fetched that there were things they didn’t know of in the world they lived in. Does magic exist? Maybe.


It was mentioned previously that Asteria lived with her grandmother since she was two years old in Glasgow, Scotland. Her grandmother was adamant about Asteria sticking to a strict schedule daily which Asteria quickly found herself disliking, especially when she was 3 and didn’t want to go to bed at the time she was supposed to. It was then that she had her first bout of accidental magic when she shut and locked her door in her grandmother’s face while she was throwing a tantrum in the hallway. While Asteria barely remembers the event and Titania concluded that this was due to the strong wind from the open window, the bout of magic was enough for Quill of Acceptance and Book of Admittance to recognize Asteria as magical, sealing her fate as a future muggle-born witch.
