Before Hogwarts

Born to Muggles Yousef and Jojona Gathorne, in Bibury, England, Enrico’s development from a toddler to a child had a couple of things in common - he remained just as immature and has been stuck at the same height ever since his sixth birthday. Having had the opportunity to be raised in a small village gave the opportunity for the boy to become well-known around the area, there was not a single person who did not know his name - and whether or not they relished his existence or despised it, depended on how Enrico behaved himself around them. The boy is an unbalanced mixture of ‘the quiet kid’ and ‘the kid who’s always on time-out at school.’ He’s always on the go and seemingly almost feels like he’s provided with a dozen shots of caffeine on a daily basis.

Appearance

The boy looks more like his mother than his father, carrying the same brown, earthy hair, always a clumsy mess looking like a pile of clothing stacked on top of one another, with curls going in different directions in every corner. His eyes are wide and big, very expressive of his emotions and perfectly match the colour of his hair. Though he has relatively dark features, Enrico’s skin is pale as the milk the family’s cow produces. He has a wave of freckles across his face and arms. Some features that might be easy to catch if one is bothered enough to stare at Enrico for long enough are his prominent, wide ears, his braced teeth (which he had to get due to the amount of sugar he used, and still secretly does, intake), and his big, round glasses that help his sight immensely. Enrico stands at the tremendously short height of 4’7, and though he’s picked on because of it, it makes running and hiding easier. Though slim, Enrico has plumpy and bubbly cheeks that flash red the second he starts doing any manner of exercise.

Personality

If Enrico’s appearance is not enough to give at least a little drop of a hint of what he really is, then one can easily find out in the few seconds they get to socialize with him. Though primarily quiet, he won’t ever shut up if given the lead to talk about anything he finds interesting or worth chatting about. His goofiness and willingness to get caught up in trouble and messy situations is probably one of the most apparent traits. Enrico is always looking for a fun time, and chances are that he’ll find himself in detentions as an end result. Though relatively funny and outgoing, Enrico is sensitive. Sensitive enough that one time, he cried because he accidentally stepped foot on a flower. There’s also no denying that when compared to some of his peers, Enrico might seem a little bit too innocent for his own good. He has pure intentions and never bad ones. Though the aspect of revenge does tend to allure him to actually getting his vengeance on those who did him wrong, the funny part is that his idea of getting back at them consists of barely harmful pranks that will make his victims look like fools.

Magic

Enrico’s first instance of magic has never been something extraordinary or obvious to him, he enjoyed the idea of magic, but coming from a muggle family only made the idea a simple fantasy that lived in books and movies. So when it did actually occur, he only thought that it was the act of love and his passion that made such a surreal event take place. Just when he was around five, Enrico helped in the daily chores the household was responsible for. Taking care of the greenery and helping to water the pots and flowers was what he was always tasked to do, for the simple reason that he always managed to find a way to make a mess in anything else. Once, he came across a particular plant that had been lacking in needs, and Rico thought it was his fault - he panicked and was already prepared to start crying. So before tears drooled down his face, he licked the plant, and nothing happened. A tiny little kiss seemed ideal, but that didn’t work either - he could taste the greenery off of it, but still, it was not enough. All hope he had of helping the plant had vanished just like that. He wrapped his tiny arms around the pot and a tear found its way down his face, and finally dropped down onto the plant’s soil. A day later, following the same routine, Enrico had found the plant revitalized and brighter than before. This proceeded to happen with all the plants that had been losing their lives and when his mother started to notice the eerie occurrence, Enrico was more than willing to explain to her what he was doing. The downside was that he didn't actually know what was going on. Yes, it was magic - but he didn't know it, he had no control over it. It all just happened because he felt the genuine need to help the plants. Had he known what he was capable of, things would have gotten out of hand quickly.
“Oh, it’s nothing special! They just need a little bit of love and SWOOSH! They’ll grow again more beautiful than before.” And every time, his mother chuckled at her son’s imagination.
