About Shay
Shay was born in the small town of Dalbeattie, Scotland to loving parents. She grew up an only child but was never bored due to her outgoing personality and sense of adventure. Her father worked in a shipyard and often times, Shay could be found climbing the masts of the ships pretending to be a pirate. Her family has a long seafaring history and she always looked forward to the day where she could sail across the open ocean.

The first time her parents noticed something unusual with Shay was when she was seven. She had been climbing on the rigging of one of the ships when she became tangled in a rope. As she dangled upside down by an ankle, she struggled to free herself. The rope started to grow longer and before anyone could blink, she was safely on the deck of the ship dusting herself off.

After that, there were several more unusual occurences. So many, in fact, that the Murdoch's were hardly surprised when Shay received her Hogwarts letter. Of course, its always a bit of a shock to learn that magic exists but the Murdoch family is taking it in stride and Shay is looking forward to her next great adventure.

Personality
Shay has always been an outgoing child with a wild imagination who loves to explore. She has a large heart and will always stand up for what is right even if it means getting herself into a bit of trouble. She has a particularly stubborn streak and has a very hard time admitting when she is wrong. With a great love of learning, she will devour almost any book in sight, as long as it isn't a dreadfully boring topic. Despite being an avid reader, Shay hates school and spends most of her time in class staring out the window daydreaming.

Appearance
Tall for her age and very lean, Shay is usually sporting a large number of scrapes on her knees and calloused hands. She has long thick brown hair that she usually leaves down unless she's up to no good, in which case she ties it up up in a navy blue ribbon. Not much of a girly girl, Shay prefers a pair of trousers and a simple t-shirt.
