Since the age of two, Hazel Wardrell has lived with her two fathers in Oxford. Her biological father, Hunter, comes from a pure-blood family, whilst her mother is a muggle who is unaware of her daughters magical abilities. Hunter is originally from America, and attended Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry as part of the Wampus House.

Hazel attended school in Oxford, showing an interest and talent with sports. She grew up with her father's best friend's son, James, who also was a half-blood. When her letter came, she already knew she had some magical abilities and that she would be attending Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry once she come of age. She also knew she'd be attending with her best friend, which made her relax about leaving her home.

Excited for a new adventure, Hazel couldn't wait to begin practising magic and buying her supplies. Though she couldn't cast spells legally yet, her father told her everything she could expect from Hogwarts school and she began to read books about magic, potions, fantastical beasts and anything else she could get her hands on.

Though she is sad to leave her home, Hazel has always been a seeker of adventure. Polite and well-behaved, her parents are proud to see her off to Hogwarts, knowing she will come back an intelligent and skilled witch.
