Physical Description:
Jacquelyn altogether looks quite average. She's small, but no smaller than most eleven year olds. She has an average build and is not particularly slim nor sturdy. Her light brown hair is thick with just a little hint of a wave, and has grown to fall partway down her back. Her bangs perpetually fall down into her hazel eyes. Her wire-framed glasses are a little too large for her face.

Mental Description:
Jacquelyn has no idea what she's doing, but she'd never tell you that. This kid desperately wants to be cool and confident and popular. She's ready to fake it until she makes it- by being overly friendly, by pretending that nothing bothers her.

The truth is, though-- she's sensitive (or that's what her mother calls her). Lots of things bother her. She wears her heart on her sleeve, and she's very quick to move from one emotion to the other. She puts a lot of pressure on herself to succeed and grow and learn. She wants to live up to her father's expectations-- of her, and of her time at school.

Biography:
Jacquelyn's paternal line is a staunch pureblood family, of which Jacquelyn doesn't know very well. Relationships deteriorated when her father, Bertram, was attending Hogwarts himself. He didn't care about wizarding bloodlines, nor much about what his family thought of him. He packed his things and moved to London as soon as he graduated from Hogwarts. He bounced around a few entry-level Ministry jobs while writing on the side, and eventually started to make enough money to write full-time. It was during that time that he met Adeline Scrivett, muggle proprietor of Goodness Cakes! Cafe and Bakery. What started as flirting became a whirlwind romance and even quicker marriage. Jacquelyn arrived not long after.

Jacquelyn always knew she was a little special and a little different; she had terse holiday dinners with her paternal extended family and boisterous holidays with her maternal side. She went to muggle daycare and muggle school and had muggle friends. The children (Agnes, Jacquelyn, and Jasper) were told from a young age that they needed to be careful and only talk about magic to other adults and friends that they knew were magical. She grew up navigating what to talk about with what person. She grew very close to her older half-sister, Agnes, one of the only people she could share everything with.

The day her Hogwarts letter arrived was exhausting. Her father, so excited and ready to regale her with his own stories of school. Her mother, happy for this new talent but reluctant to send her child away to a strange boarding school in Scotland. Her muggle half-sister, upset at the special treatment and that her best friend would be leaving. Jacquelyn herself is leery about this strange school that all her wizard friends considered an eventual inevitability; no ipads? No texting? What do they even do for fun?

First Instance of Magic:
Looking back on it, there were probably several instances of magic. Her baby blanket or favorite stuffie was always within arm's reach. Stains and messes always vanished the moment Mom turned her back. The most obvious incident, though, was after a huge fight with her sister, Agnes' hair was cut short while the two of them sulked in different rooms.
