Serafina has long, slightly wavy dark brown hair, with angular but wide teal-blue eyes with specks of midnight blue in their depths. Long eyelashes frame her eyes, setting off a pale skin tone like the moon, and faint freckles bridge her nose. While tall and lanky for her age(5'7" to be exact), like a newborn colt, she has flat wiry muscles and is actually quite graceful, and holds herself like a dancer. High elegant cheekbones contrast with a softly rounded face.

Sera is sarcastic, and has a witty sense of humor. The same eyes that used to hold your gaze with caution now seem to hold a sparkle in it that can't quite be placed into a look of mischief, or just someone being glad to see you. Once you befriend her, you have now gained a friend for life, but if you betray her twice or hurt her friends, that kind look is now gone, and now a look of anger is in her gaze. But that happens quite rarely, and a usual mask of boredom covers her face when she doesn't know you, but she is listening. She can often be found singing show tunes from broadway under her breath while she's reading, considering that she's obsessed with the theater, but she can't quite hit low notes, and for her, she can only sing soprano. She also enjoys dancing and Only close friends are allowed to call her Lei or Leilani, but nearly everyone calls her Sera.

Serafina's family moved from Moloka'i when she was two years old. Her mother was a muggle, Puerto Rican and Kanaka Maoli, while her father was a pure-blood. Sera grew up speaking fluent Puerto Rican and Hawaiian, learning Pidgin along the way. Her two older siblings, Ioane and Akela, remember much more, but they always visit Hawaii every year to see their Papa (Grandfather). In England, they live at a farm, with a few horses, including Sera's favorite filly that's she's training, a gorgeous black mare with a white star and blaze called Black Wind. Sera has few friends, considering the only friends she needs are the horses and her siblings, but unfortunately life doesn't work that way. Her family didn't shelter her but brought each family up as best as they could, their dad working from home to take care of them, while her mother worked late shifts at the hospital she worked at.

When Sera was four, she starting wailing, cracks running along the ground, starburst shaped, but looking like they would open up soon, until her father's Patronus, a Granian flew past, looking down at the girl and nickered at her. Serafina stopped crying, her eyes widening as a feather slowly dropped from the sky into her outstretched palm. The cracks started to recede, and her father raced outside to pick her up, noticing the feather she held in her hand. Looking up, he saw a grey blur streak farther away into the distance, as he smiled, thankful nothing bad had happened.
