Darlene Smith was Born to Darrel and Margaret Smith of Inverness Scotland. Being an only child Darlene was doted upon when she was young, but not to the point of spoiling. She simply never went without.
Her mother was a muggle homemaker, and her father a Wizard, he had a lower position at the ministry working in Misuse of Muggle artifacts, having been muggleborn himself.
Their home was a small cottage style property with their own mill and river where Darlene spent most of her time when it wasn't raining. She loved to read fantasy books by the flowing waters and sometimes would play with local children.
They discovered her powers fairly young, near six or so, when angry with her mother for not letting her muck about in the rain , Darlene had stamped and screamed so loudly that the tea cozy on the table burst into purple flames before becoming dust. Father had been elated, her mother not so much but she was very proud overall.
Darlene was always in her books, or writing or doing artwork so often her friends would simply leave her behind for fun adventure, and she found she didn't mind so much. She was more interested in what she could learn before attending school,or what she could be creating. Darrel had told Darlene shortly after her little fit about Hogwarts, and all the magical beautiful things she would learn and experience there.
By eight years old she had Hogwarts a History memorized and she was anxious to visit and see if everything was true.
For years she studied her fathers old schoolbooks, forgetting her interest in Maths and diving headfirst into potions and astrology.
Other favorites to study were divination, Transfiguration, and as many charms books as she could get her hands on.
She never attempted any spells (terrified she would not be accepted to Hogwarts breaking rules) But she certainly knew most of what there was to know of the basics. Besides the studies, Darlene took to art, drawing images of what she imagined life to be like at hogwarts, or fantasy creatures she might see.
Finally on the morning of her eleventh birthday, after years of anxious waiting and studying, she had run downstairs to a huge pile of chocolate pancakes, and neatly beside it was her Hogwarts letter.
