Iris Crowe
Born
October 11th 2008
Appearance
A natural redhead with pale blue eyes who weighs around 70lbs (31.75 kg) and about 4ft (30.48 cm) tall. Iris has a naturally pale complexion and usually prefers to have her hair shaven very close to the head (to the point of being completely bald, or having just the barest indication of hair) . Additionally the young girl seems to be quite fond of all sorts of jewelry, especially earrings and rings, though on the former she's only been allowed one piercing each ear with the promise that she can get more once she's older.

When allowed to choose her own wardrobe Iris Crowe can be found being quite fond of plaid or tartan (not surprising when one considers nationality on both sides of the family tree), with the girl usually choosing to wear long sleeved flannel with various types of pants and practical leather or pseudo-leather boots.

History
Iris's parents are interesting in the fact that they had been born on nearly the opposite sides of the Earth. Her father, Lucas Collins, was born in Scotland Lochgoilhead while her mother, Marilyn Crowe happened to be the eldest daughter of a rather well-off older couple who chose to settle down in upper Montana. Iris was a surprise to her parents, the couple having met at the University of Glasgow after it was decided that Marilyn would get her secondary education internationally. Despite their daughter being rather unexpected, the two young adults (reaching their mid to late 20's) were determined to give their daughter a good life. Middle ground was chosen when it came to Iris's full name, Lucas naming her after his grandmother and Marilyn's last name, Crowe, passing on to Iris.

Though Iris was born in Lochgoilhead, she spent the majority of her earliest years being raised in Montana. Her father was an English teacher with magical blood (though he'd never really pursued the magical field (and blood) much outside of dabbling and had never told his wife much about the in's and out's of the wizarding society) , her mother a national park ranger. Eventually, though her parents remained married, her father moved back home to care for his elderly father. It was during that hard time, when Iris's mother came down with bone cancer. The illness itself wasn't properly diagnosed until well over half a year had passed since the symptoms had arisen during which time Iris would be flown from continent to continent to spend time with both sides of her family. Marilyn kept both the symptoms, and eventual diagnosis, a secret from her husband, not wanting to tear him away from his father when the elderly man was in need of someone to care for him (despite his protests) and not realizing that the magical world would have a cure for the deadly disease.

Eventually, however, nearly after her proper diagnosis and after encouragement by her own parents to find treatment elsewhere (and receiving only Grim news after a visit to Glasgow) Marilyn confessed her secret to her husband not long after she made a difficult journey to England. To say that the well intentioned, but dangerous secret had almost cost her life would be an understatement. Despite everything, however, Iris's parents are still together though they are taking extensive counselling when it comes to communication and other aspects of a healthy relationship. It was because of this counselling that the two well meaning parents eventually told their daughter the full extent of what had happened during the last year and a half.

Both Iris's parents are still alive and living in England currently (with her mother having been cured nearly two years ago) , both of Iris's grandparents on her mother's side of the family are alive and only her grandfather on her father's side of the family is alive. Iris get's her magical ability from her father and her father's deceased mother.

Power
While in Glasgow to get some new tests and treatment recommendations for her mother (only a few hours before Marilyn had confessed the full extent of the secret she'd been keeping from her husband and daughter) Iris recently displayed magical abilities for the very first (or maybe not?) time. While visiting her mother's room during what she had thought to be a normal doctor visit, Iris Crowe couldn't help but notice how sad her mother seemed to be sad (she'd been sad a lot lately, even back in Montana. Iris new something was wrong because her mother hadn't been out in the wilderness like usual during the monthly or bimonthly visits). Determined to find a way to cheer her up, the young girl had snuck out and gone hunting for anything or anyone who might be able to do what she could not. Eventually the young girl had found a bouquet of half-dead wilted flowers stuck in a barren dried pot within a garbage can, and, unable to find anything else brought them back to the room. Iris was startled to find that by the time she returned to the room the flowers themselves had sprouted back to life despite the inhospitably dirt they were rooted too. She mentioned this fact in passing to her mother, attributing this change to the flowers knowing how much Marilyn loved nature and were happy to find someone who cared about them. Marilyn, of course, loved the gift and was sharp enough to wonder if perhaps a different explanation could be given to the flowers revival. This realization came paired with the realization that the grim news she had received with the doctor meant that she had no other choice but to tell her husband what she'd been hiding from him and Iris, that despite her hopes she couldn't keep them happily oblivious especially if the disease she was fighting wouldn't be able to be beaten.)

Personality
Iris Crowe was born adventurous, curious, and mischievous. Even from a young age the girl often could find her way into mischief. Rules, in general, were always categorized as small recommendations or large recommendations. If it was determined that a "recommendation" from an adult was getting in the way of satisfying some curiosity or getting a good laugh, one would undoubtedly find Iris breaking that said recommendation. Despite her propensity to get into trouble, none of the girl's actions seemed to come from a place of malice. Iris's sense of adventure was only built upon due to how often her family traveled between continents.

In more recent years, specifically three, Iris Crowe has become more reserved and quiet. She's more prone to listening to any rules sent in front of her (especially those from her mother) and is found less and less often going out on small adventures in the backyard or with neighborhood friends/acquaintances. Instead, these days one might find Iris surfing the internet or curled up with a book. Sometimes, even if the weather isn't hospitable, her father will find her curled up in the tree house in the backyard of their house (technically his father's house) in Lochgoilhead. Her love for nature (just like her mother), plants and animals both, has grown these last three years as well.

Notes:
Sorry if it's a bit jumbled (it's quite late oops), I think I managed to juggle the timeline around enough so that the basis of what I had before was the same. I can certainly try and rewrite it if needed. (Simplified down Marilyn would have started showing symptoms of her illness when Iris was around 7 1/2 years old and the cure would have been when Iris was 9. Iris would have been around 10 when her Parents finally reached a place where they felt comfortable explaining to her everything they had each kept hidden in pertinence to the wizarding world and the illness Marilyn had been cured of.
