Mandy Jane Barlow was born on the 20th of June to William and Jane Barlow. Her mother, Jane, being the one in the family with magical powers, there was always a chance for them to have a magical child. When William did find out that his wife was a witch, (after the marriage), he was stunned, to say the least. Once his heart had stopped pounding in his chest as Jane had lifted the sofa into the air as proof, He accepted her as he loved her very much.

Still, he was having a hard time of it, trying to get used to it all as Jane had stopped hiding her powers in their home, and now had it running quite efficiently with magic. Out of sight of the neighbors, of course.

Between all of this fun, there were some sad times as they were struggling to conceive. Jane grew very sad indeed and so did William. He often wondered if magic could help, but Jane told him that it couldn't. This lasted for about 3 years, until one day, Jane became ill. By ill, I mean, she was throwing up every morning. William, becoming very concerned, took her to the clinic where the doctor confirmed that she was having a baby.

Of course, they were thrilled, beyond measure and took extra care to give this baby it's best chance. At last, Mandy Barlow was brought into the world with a head full of curly red hair, just like her father and hazel eyes, just like her mother. She came in screaming and full of energy, a very healthy baby. Mandy became the apple of William's and Jane's eye.

Mandy is a pale girl, with long wavy/curly red hair. Big Hazel eyes and a big, toothy smile. She is a wisp of a girl, thin and small, but she is strong-minded and self-assured. She is honest, to all a fault and will stand up for the little guy, even though she is small herself.

Her first show of magic, as Jane will always recall with a giggle, was when Mandy was just a baby, a one year old. William, being the doting father that he was, wanted to feed her the mushy peas that he loved as a baby. (He thought she would like them too.) Mandy was a ball of laughter, as her father put her into the wooden highchair. He turned the grab the peas, opened them and just as he was about to place the spoon in her mouth, it leapt from his hand and flew against the wall. William fell out of his chair, onto the floor and the mushy peas landed in his lap.

Jane, who had her wavy brown hair pinned against her head, turned and took in the scene before her. There in front of her, her husband, mushy peas all in his lap and her daughter, looking very pleased with herself. Barely able to contain it anymore, she burst out laughing, and William followed closely behind her. That was when they knew that Mandy was a witch.

As Mandy grew, her interests did as well. She is not a tomboy, but not a frilly girl either, somewhere in the middle. She loves fantasy novels, anything with a strong female lead. She likes to imagine herself in those parts. She loves to garden, and has always helped her mother in their herb garden. Hey, Basil is interesting! Her diet consists of sweets, sweets and more sweets, but only when her mother allows. Though her father will sneak her some behind her back, though that's our little secret.

Mandy is excited to attend Hogwarts, her mother has told her all about it. Jane, of course was in Hufflepuff and she hopes Mandy will be also. Overall, she just hopes that her daughter will be happy with her house, make friends and get an amazing education. (Mandy just hopes that she will pass first year and that people will like her.)
