Katherine Song is a pure blooded witch born and raised in the Welsh city Machynlleth. She lives with her parents and grandmother. Her older brother (who is now 20) also graduated from Hogwarts as a Ravenclaw. Most of the family is either Ravenclaw or Slytherin, although Katherine's father is a Gryffindor. Her father is a dragonologist, and studies the local Green Welsh Dragons. He also sometimes travels to the Romanian Dragon Sanctuary, so Katherine doesn't really see him much. Her mother helps homeschool young wizards and witches before they go to school.
Katherine loves to build and create things, and enjoys reading as well as watching her brother brew potions. She also likes listening to music a lot, and although she grew up in a wizard family, she enjoys listening to muggle music. She doesn't really know what she wants to do when she grows up, but she does want to do something with potions or animals.
While her brother enjoys watching and playing Quidditch, and often suggests that Katherine should play, Katherine doesn't find the idea of sports or physical activity the most appealing. Reading and testing potions with her family are her go to options. In fact, when she was 5, her parents found her on the floor with an open book rearranging the letters. This was the first time Katherine showed any signs of being magical.
