Peyton Ross
Status:
Muggle-born
Nationality:
English
Residence:
Shefford, England
Function:
First year, Hufflepuff
Wand:
21,3 cm blackthorn wood and phoenix feather
Appearance: Peyton has long, dark brown hair that she keeps in an over-the-shoulder braid. When not braided or recently undone, her hair is naturally straight and reaches the middle of her back. Her face is round and speckled with freckles, a slight bit of acne by her hairline. Her eyes are light brown and almond shaped, accented by short eyelashes.

Personality: Friendly, though somewhat anxious. She tends to take the role of the mom friend and wants the best for everyone. She believes that nobody is pure ‘evil’ and all so-called ‘bad guys’ are good people in bad situations. Because of this, she has a firm belief in pacifism and redemption. This makes her rather gullible, a fact she’s not very aware of.

Alignment: Neutral Good

History: Peyton was born and raised in England, but picked up some of the mannerisms and speech patterns of her American parents. They moved when her mom was pregnant with her, since her father had a work opportunity with excellent pay. He was later fired when she was a toddler, for reasons he never told her. While Peyton’s mom wanted to move back to America, her father insisted that they shouldn’t make such a big move while Peyton was so young. Her father was able to get a new job, though not nearly as well paying as the last.

The family ended up dropping from upper class to middle class, but Peyton was too young to notice the difference. She attended a public school where she had a large friend group and spent her free time sketching mediocre pictures. Her relationship with her parents remained positive, excluding the occasional spats, and her mother recently became pregnant for a second time.

When Peyton’s Hogwarts letter arrived, her parents were slow to accept it. When they eventually did, they weren’t happy about it; Peyton hadn’t been away from home for a full week, they were worried how she’d handle a school year. She was too excited at the prospect of magic to talk out of it, so they begrudgingly decided to give her their full support and hope for the best.

First Magic: Peyton encountered her magic for the first time on her tenth birthday, when she dropped a glass figurine given to her by her dad. It stopped just before hitting the ground, then set itself harmlessly on the floor. Neither of her parents saw, however, since her dad was cutting the cake and her mom was taking pictures of her presents. When Peyton told them what happened, they dismissed it as the figurine being durable and not breaking. Peyton hesitantly believed them, but she still considered the figurine special. The little glass dragon was kept on her nightstand from then on.
