Summer Hu-Buchanan was born on February 4th, 2009 to Charles Hu-Buchanan, a muggle man of Chinese descent, and Ellen Hu-Buchanan, a muggle woman of English descent, who together form a middle-class family, in Leicester, England, which also happens to be where she was raised. She has a muggle twin sister named Lori. Physically, she is an 11-year old half-Chinese brunette with a button nose and hair that is a little bit straight and a little bit wavy.
She has attended Leicester Montessori Preparatory and Grammar School. She is intelligent, cheerful, enthusiastic, affectionate, warm, gregarious, responsible, hard-working, reliable, determined, charitable, optimistic, dependable, loyal, rule-abiding, curious, kindhearted, compassionate, loving, friendly, level-headed, and loves talking to people, but is also a bit of a perfectionist, a virtue signaler, submissive, rigid, sentimental, and idealistic. She likes to do homework, practice gymnastics, and read books in her spare time.
She was initially shocked to learn that she was a witch, but she has gotten over that and she is now absolutely ecstatic about attending Hogwarts. She has started reading most of the books she was required to buy with fascination. Her first case of accidental magic that her family had noticed was on the Halloween of 2012. Summer was 3 years old at that point, and she was having a temper tantrum. Her mother approached her, and Summer telekinetically pushed her and caused her to stumble backward hard.
Summer's father attributed the incident to mundane causes, but the incident nevertheless spooked Ellen and she would tell the story to friends and family for years afterward. (She did not have a more extreme reaction because she didn't have any hard evidence at that point that it was supernatural.)
Over the years, Summer's father found it increasingly difficult to explain away Summer's magic, but would refuse to believe it until a Hogwarts professor came and showed it to him. Since then, he has been struggling to update almost his entire worldview.
