Personality: Aleks is a quick thinker and an equally quick talker. He always seems like he's further into a conversation that you're having with him regardless of topic. He possesses a dry wit and equally dry sense of humour which can sometimes make him seem abrasive. He is not particularly expressive or emotive but is far from emotionless. He values the safety of other people even if he doesn't outwardly show it, often disguising his concern under a sarcastic remark or a scolding. Though he treats his lycanthropy with a casual laid-back humorous perspective in truth the idea that he is a near constant threat to those around him takes a mental toll, he struggles to maintain close relationships as a result of this.

Appearance: Aleks is genetically good looking but does not take much care with his appearance, he doesn't see any point in fussing around looking pretty only for such a look to degrade within a few hours, as such he winds up looking quite scruffy. Furthermore he always has a haggard or fatigued look about him due to his insomnia, making him appear quite rough and bedraggled, not exactly your stereotypical professor. Furthermore, his face bears many faded but still visible scars and claw marks, a constant reminder of a werewolf attack from his youth.

History: Born to Gregor Ostrowski and Katya Wieclaweck the young Pole was constantly in between two homes as his parents refused to marry one another. When he was old enough to attend Aleks often chose to even spend his holidays at Durmstrang in order to provide himself with some sense of stability, which created a bit of a wedge between himself and his parents.

When he was fourteen he got lost on a forest trek in one of his classes. He trudged around in the cold for hours, trying to find his class. Day turned to night and he was forced to camp out in the woods until he could be found. Eventually he was found, but not by his classmates, by a hungry Werewolf.

The beast pounced upon the young student, clawing his face and taking a sizeable chunk out of his shoulder. It would have been the end if one persistent professor hadn't heard the struggle and intervened, at that point however, it was too late, Aleksander was forever cursed. Students tended to keep their distance from that night on.

At School:
Strengths:Potions, Herbology and Flying
Weaknesses: Astronomy and Divination
Was granted many awards in excellence within the field of Potioneering. With this expertise came an integral knowledge in the field of Herbology. However he came very close to failing both Astronomy and Divination as he failed to see the practical application of both fields and thus struggled to learn the content. The only aspect of Astronomy he could comprehend well were Lunar Cycles.

After Graduation:
Aleks disappeared for a while, spending two years serving in the Polish Muggle Military, learning various hand to hand combat skills and becoming a bit more learned in Muggle culture. He only returned to the Wizarding world a year ago. Over this year he hired out his potion making skills to anyone who would pay in order to keep affording the ingredients for his Wolfsbane potions now that Durmstrang Institute was no longer supplying him.

Currently:
Teaching was not Aleksander's first choice of vocation, but necessity forced his hand. The pay for his potion-making was becoming less and less reliable and every month he feared accidentally catching the moonlight and losing control entirely.

Hogwarts approached him with the offer of replacing their recently resigned Potion's Professor and would even allow him to stay on the ground's in a place where his condition could be monitored safely.
