Claudia Gears has lived with magic for as long as she can remember. With her old, grouchy house elf and books enchanted to return back to their places if left unused, magic has always been a piece of her life. So when she got her Hogwarts letter after accidentally duplicating her favorite book, she wasn't surprised in the slightest. Instead, she was exited. A fun "vacation" away from her home in England and her annoying, loud siblings was exactly what she had wanted for years. Sure, she was sad to leave her local library behind, but she had read almost all of the books in it anyway. Plus, she was aching for a change. The muggle's idea of magic and wizardry was humorous, but inaccurate.
...
In fact, maybe the only reason she was going to Hogwarts was the library of spells and books great feats. She figured other students would probably be more exited for new friendships (or to continue with their preexisting old ones), but Claudia just didn't care about all of that. She always felt friends tiring, even though she had never tried having one. Her only friends were her book and quill, and anything outside of that she didn't acknowledge. Not even her family could penetrate her mind, though they tried and failed many times. Eventually, everyone just excepted it and moved on.
...
However, there is one other thing besides books and libraries that Claudia loves: cute animals. While she could never be seen as an animal lover and doesn't spend time with them, she adores pictures of kittens on the internet and loves to look at pygmy puffs in Diagon Alley. Her room at home is decorated with cat stuffed animals and posters alike. She would never tell anyone this embarrassing secret for fear someone would make fun of her for it.
...
Surprisingly, if anyone got the chance to know her she would likely be fun and adventurous. This gives the impression that she's just shy and prefers to keep to herself, rather than is emotionless or dull. She likes to stand up for her beliefs, no matter how rude her words may seem even though she might be the minority in that certain opinion.

Like her personality, Claudia's appearance is rather odd. Her shoulder length thick black hair and small form seem normal, but any traces of average looks are shattered by her grey eyes. Or, rather, her grey eye. Her other eye is covered by an eye patch after an unfortunate accident took place.
...
The origins of Claudia's eye patch started when as a childish prank she snuck into her parent's potion cabinet to switch the labels on some of her mom's potions. Her parents were potion makers - not spell users - and Claudia thought it would be funny if something blew up in her mom's face. Luckily for her, her parents were at work and had forgotten to lock the cabinet the last time they used it. While she was switching the labels, Claudia accidentally knocked over a very fragile, empty vial on a high shelf. Some of the glass shards ended up in her left eye as a result. Frantically, she cried for help, screaming that anyone, someone help her. However, no one else was there. Claudia's younger siblings weren't born yet and her parents couldn't find a magical babysitter in the area to look after her. Claudia was in too much pain to think about waiting for her parents (and even then she would have to wait for multiple hours) so she reached for the nearest healing potion. However, her vision was impaired and what she was reaching for didn't say health potion, but something else. She poured the supposed healing potion over her left eye but it turned out to be an acid-like potion instead! By the time her parents got home, it was too late; Claudia's eye had already been eaten away.
