Marco was born on April 22nd, 2008 to a Wizard father and a Muggle mother. His father, Alistair, is a wizard who attended Hogwarts and proceeded to pursue a career in Magizoology. Alistair met Marco's mother, Christine, in a small coffee shop that she, an aspiring journalist, was writing from in her hometown of Ivybridge. After a few weeks of flirtations back and forth, the two eventually started dating, and after an extensive courting period, got married. Alistair revealed his wizarding life to Christine in the second year of their relationship, and though she was confused and a little scared, she was also accepting of him. Eventually, the happy couple gave birth to a healthy baby boy, Marco.

Marco was raised by his parents in a lifestyle consisting of both magical and Muggle education. His father taught him a lot about the ways of the wizarding world, and his mother took the time to homeschool him in muggle skills like maths, reading, and writing. As he started learning from a young age, this instilled a sense of wonder and astonishment in Marco. He became fascinated by everything in the world, always wanting to learn how it worked, why it worked, and how it could be made better. As he grew, this grew into a determination to always be improving himself and others around him- even when he didn't know exactly what that 'better self' should be. Marco grew up with a lot of modern conveniences, and as such has grown accustomed to a lot of the Muggle tools of the 21st century. His parents never let him have a phone, as they considered him too young, but he did get to experience the video game craze that a lot of the youth went through.

Marco's magical abilities didn't begin to manifest themselves until his 5th birthday. His parents had gotten him a bike for a present, and after it had been unveiled and he was riding it for the first time, his father decided to pull the traditional "take off the training wheels and tell your kid you're holding them and let them ride" maneuver, and it worked out well initially. However, Marco lost control and crashed into a tree in the family garden, causing him to break out in tears. Marco threw a tantrum that his father had let go of him, and yelled that he didn't want to ride the bike anymore. Marco would get his wish, as his parents would find the bike shrunken down on the ground a moment later. Now, a doll wasn't fit to ride it, let alone a full sized child. Though his mother was distraught, Alistair was ecstatic. He had always hoped his son was magical, so this confirmation was thrilling to him.

The more Marco grew, the more he resembled his dad physically, as well. He had his father's messy blonde hair, pronounced jaw, and brown eyes, but he stood quite a bit shorter than his dad had at his age. At 11, Marco stood only at 4'2", shorter than almost everyone else he knew. This led to Marco becoming somewhat insecure about his height, as much as his parents tried to assure him that he'd grow and that it wasn't a big deal. Marco also inherited his mother's rounded facial features, which led to him always looking 'puffy' from certain angles. As a big fan of the outdoors, Marco was in shape for his age by the time he attended Hogwarts, at least in terms of stamina and dexterity. In terms of strength, however, Marco's small arms gave him a significant disadvantage when it came to leverage.

On his 11th birthday, the letter from Hogwarts arrived, just like his father said it would, and Marco's adventure truly began...
