Personality
Jamie is an unusual one. To most, he may seem like your average 11-year-old, but there is much more to the young child than the happy-go-lucky persona he puts on. Jamie comes from a moderately wealthy wizarding family. Well, half-wizarding. His father, Joseph Becker, was a muggle-born wizard, placed in Hufflepuff during his time in Hogwarts, whereas his mother, Jocelyn Becker (previously Bothwell), came from a proud, pureblood family whose lineage resided in Ravenclaw. Their personalities combined made a hell of a team. An adventurous, carefree yet caring, determined, knowledgable spirit which became Jamie's older brother, Thomas. Being the younger brother, Jamie always felt like he had to live up to his brothers' expectations. This caused the child to gain traits like jealousy, by constantly being overshadowed. He felt worthless in comparison to Thomas Becker. The perfect, golden child who flew through his classes with barely any troubles.

Jamie doesn't usually let his jealously overrule him. He too is knowledgable but in a different way. Other than retaining all the information he is given, Jamie prefers to work practically. He learns by doing, and that makes his mind remember a subject. Not really understanding this, his parents have ended up riddling the boy with shame of not being able to keep track of his textbooks at home, or retain any information on an exam his home tutor gave him.

The frustration lead to anger, and though it calmed down, Jamie still finds himself having random fits of anger randomly bursting out. Luckily, only being a child, it's difficult for Jamie to do anything too damaging.

Backstory
The tale of Jamie Becker. Probably one no one would read, nor find interesting. Just a boys story of his life, nothing interesting so far. After all, he's only 11. With a relatively normal backstory... if you forget the magic.

Jamie's story began long before he did, when his parents, Jocelyn and Joseph were just high school kids. Cliché, right? Well, Jocelyn crushed on Joseph for most of her 5th and 6th years, and when the tall, handsome Quidditch player noticed her back, the two instantly fell in love.

Though, it was hard with some family values. Jocelyn was expected to mingle with wizarding folk, of course, and though her parents didn't disapprove of her choice of Joseph with him being a nice boy, they did slightly disapprove of his bloodstatus. Joseph was a muggleborn, and was placed in Hufflepuff meaning he almost had to fight to be known during school. Jocelyn was a Ravenclaw, and a quiet one at that. She was a pureblood witch with a strong family history of good grades and successful careers. Being the only daughter of 4 children to her parents, Jocelyns family skipped all the 'treating her like a little princess', and instead raised a headstrong little girl with very valid opinions. And that's what Joseph liked about her.

Skip ahead say... 10 years or so, Jocelyn and Joseph were happily married with a small, 5-year-old son called Thomas. Jocelyn found herself pregnant once more, and though she was excited, Joseph didn't share her excitement. Nine months later, Jocelyn found herself repeating the same steps as with her first child, and several hours of labour later, Jamie Quentin Becker was born at 6:34 pm on the 28th August.

Being the second child, and the one his father wasn't particularly fond of, Jamie found himself constantly living in his brothers shadow, even from before he could walk and talk. Thomas was an intellectual child. He walked early, talked early, read early, yet Jamie was more of a late starter. He didn't say a word until after his second birthday, refused to walk until he was forced to, and the child still couldn't read well no matter how often Joseph shoo'd him into the tutoring room with Thomas.

Just after Jamie was born, Thomas started showing his first signs of magic. And instantly, the attention for Jamie was taken away and refocused on their magical child. Jamie wasn't neglected. Jocelyn made sure to tend to his every need. But it was no secret that both of them preferred their eldest son, Thomas. This fact instantly became known to both boys as they got older, and Thomas used it to his advantage, finding Jamie many hours stuck in his room being punished for something which wasn't his fault.

When Thomas started Hogwarts, it was almost like a fresh start. 9/10 times, Jamie would be allowed to do as he wished as long as he spent hours being tutored. He frustrated his tutor immensely, who was the same guy who had tutored Thomas. Jamie wasn't as quick to learn as his brother. He preferred being outside. Preferred learning practically. Being stuck in the dining room reading some boring book caused him to often fall asleep, and result in a rude awakening from his fathers sharp voice.

When Thomas' report cards came home expressing his perfect grades and behaviour, Jamie was constantly reminded of his brother being better than he would ever be. Not to mention, his ninth birthday was soon coming around and the boy had shown no magical powers yet.

It worried his parents. It worried them a lot. They knew Jamie was different, no matter how much they tried to bend him into shape, but not showing magic was something else. What if he was a squib? This was a question they found themselves asking on a daily basis. However, Thomas was home for the summer before his 5th year at Hogwarts and teaching Jamie how to play quidditch on the ground. The two passed around the football-like object while running around the garden. Though, one time Thomas threw the quaffle a little too high. But instead of missing it, Jamie jumped, grabbed the quaffle and found himself on the shed roof.

Staring in amazement, Thomas wasn't used to his brother doing things which was this abnormal. He called for his parents who instantly applauded with a sense of proudness to them before helping the small boy down. It was from that moment which Jamie's magic kicked in. All it took was a game of ground Quidditch.

Jamie's 11th birthday came around quicker than he thought it would, and the letter from the magical school he was so desperate to go to arrived shortly after breakfast. Jocely decided she would take Jamie to Diagon Alley instantly, no need to wait for his father to get home from work.

The trip, unlike many others Jamie had been on before, was a completely different experience. He'd been there many years in a row to buy Thomas' school supplies, and if he was good, he'd get an ice cream from Floreans Ice Cream Parlour. But this time, they were there for him. Sure, Thomas needed some school supplies, but Jocelyn gave her older son the money he needed as he darted through the crowds to catch up with his friends.

Jamie had his robes fit, his wand selected, his school books and objects bought and before he knew it, was ready for the journey home. Well, after Thomas showed up at the Leaky Cauldron.

The boy had met a handful of other children in the Alley. Some weren't at Hogwarts yet, like him, others were first years, or even had a whole year to wait before they went there. That night, Jocelyn spent time sewing name tags into all of Jamie's clothing, writing his name on the inside of the school books in permanent ink. She was anxious for her little boy to go to Hogwarts. Though she had allowed Joseph to be hard on him, she knew Jamie might struggle with the academic side and the next morning after her husband had gone to work, sat Jamie down and talked him through the things to expect.

Not too many days later, Jamie found himself pushing his own trolley instead of holding onto his mothers hand like usual. Thomas went first through the barrier, his father following shortly afterwards. Not too long after that, Jocelyn gave Jamie an encouraging smile as she ran with him onto the platform. The mighty Hogwarts Express. The very scarlet steam engine Jamie had been dying to board, and this time he was.

And let me tell you, that train journey is one he will never forget.
