Ewan Matthews is an 11-year old Scottish boy from the large town of Ayr. His parents are Brian Matthews, a Wizard who had attended Hogwarts himself, and Marlene Matthews, a muggle from Dublin who moved to Ayr to open a furniture store and met Ewan's father a week after her grand opening. Ewan, like his parents, has red hair. He's a lean, tall, young man with a strong jaw and blue eyes to match his father's. He loves watching football matches and played on his youth team as a forward. His father knew he was a wizard when Ewan found his father's wand and did not want to give it up. When his father was asleep, Ewan would sneak into his wardrobe and take it. He would pretend to be a wizard, pretend it was a sword, and sometimes even a fishing pole. Brian found Ewan with it one late night, and Ewan begged his father to let him keep it. His father could tell there was a special reason why he wanted it so much. Unfortunately, his father needed the wand for work at the Ministry of Magic, but his father promised him he would have his own one day, and it would be more than a fishing pole. Brian could not let Ewan play with it anymore as it would be against the rules. Ewan did not understand the rule, though. His father didn't speak much about his work, or ever really exposed to magic. The following night, Ewan would once again sneak to the wardrobe to take the wand, but this time his father caught him. Ewan through a fit of rage and yelled for the wand, and his outburst caused the furniture in the bedroom to levitate just for a few seconds. Once everything fell back to the floor, his father reminded him once again that his wand would come soon. Ewan finally understood. Now, Ewan is now a wizard, and beginning his journey at Hogwarts, just like his father.
