Oliver Caldwell is the son of Bram and Constance Caldwell. His father is a TV Repairman at the local electronics repair shop and his mother serves as a nurse at the clinic down the street from their modest apartment. Oliver like his father has short, dark brown hair but inherited his mother's green eyes. Unlike many of his peers, Oliver always had a more reserved and inquisitive nature.

Oliver had been a normal English lad, taking part in school classes and participating in summer activities up until last year. That was the year of the incident. A field trip to the science museum (One of Oliver's favorite classes) had turned disastrous. The children of course had been on a guided tour, led by their teachers and what was likely a young college student interning at the museum. As they passed through an exhibit on gravity, Oliver (The inquisitive child he was) became separated from the group, enthralled by a giant swinging pendulum powered by gravity and a counterweight system. As a child's mind often does, he silently asked himself the question what would happen if the pendulum were to increase in speed - and behold, it did. Slowly at first it began to pick up speed, swinging from left to right then back left again. Then faster and faster until a sharp crack filled the exhibit hall. The pendulum had broken free!

Unfortunately the location of the pendulum and its associated exhibit, the heavy rod and ball flew forward and directly towards the large glass windows of the museum. With a large crash and a shattering of glass the pendulum was set loose on the open street, bouncing once, twice, and finally ending up embedded in the hood of a green three wheeled delivery van. In shock, Oliver stood staring blankly until the voice of the teacher (Who had by now looked back to see Oliver trailing behind) shouting reached his ears! "I didn't touch it, I swear!" he uttered. It couldn't have been his fault, certainly. Or could it have been?

This was but the first telltale sign that Oliver was destined for more - though upon his 11th birthday, the mysterious letter from Hogwarts confirmed it. It was a strange conversation with his parents, the son of two muggles now seemingly endowed with supernatural abilities. Concern, fear, excitement, a flurry of emotions both for Oliver and his parents ensued. At the end of it, his parents took the news much better than he'd ever expected. For Oliver, this was a new and exciting development. For his parents, it was a new and uncharted journey that carried just as much fear as it did excitement. Even so, they supported Oliver's newfound path.
