Emma is daughter of Eliza Aurelia McKennon (coffee shop owner in the Diagon Alley) and Amycus Reginald McKennon (Ministry of Magic - Level 5: Department of International Magical Cooperation). She was born in Brighton, England and has one sister Amelia Cassandra McKennon, who is 16 and already a Hogwarts student.

She is smart, eager to learn, a bit of a bookworm but also, her nature is very curious and lively. She likes to explore new environments.
She lives with her parents in Brighton and when her magic appeared for the first time, she was, fortunately, alone and not risking any exposure. She was in the family garden playing fetch with the family dog Argo when she managed to levitate the ball she was throwing. There was no surprise as she understood what was happening to her but she was incredibly excited that it finally happened.
She is also many times compared to her sister Amelia and Emma is already fed up with it. She wants to be her own person but with her ultra successful sister, it is very hard to show her own talents because "Ami has already done this." This leads to Emma being reckless sometimes because she absolutely wants to distinguish herself from Amelia.
