Jean was very much a sheltered child who spent most of her time with her mother, who works as an apothecary in Stromness – the second most populous town on the Orkney Islands in Scotland. With both parents working and having no siblings to hold her attention and keep her entertained, yet coupled with crippling shyness left the girl to her own imagination. She often came up with all sorts of little games to play with herself, and a sufficient number of imaginary friends to fill out specific roles making them less like games and perhaps more like plays which would likely explain her developing an interest in different kinds of literature. And with a lasting bloodline such as her own, there were more than enough exciting and hilarious stories for her father to share with her during his times he would be home.

She wasn’t completely without social interaction, though. Her father Angus had his own share of friends with children close to if not in the same range as Jean. Most couldn’t quite handle how.. unusual the girl was though, being timid and a tad ignorant due to the previous lack of people to speak with. She was a bossy, loud, but also very fearful child. Her imagination could often take things that by default alone might frighten her and crank them up to their maximum. Going into Hogwarts she was a very shy and anxious child, especially on the train and just before her sorting. Once one is able to get passed her introverted nature and anxiousness though, she’s a very lively and animated person with a lot of energy and passion in reaching for the top – her biggest dream being to one day become an Auror! The best Auror, if she can help it.

Jean's first accidental use of magic came a bit later than some people when she was ten years old. On leave from work to spend a bit of time with his family, Angus MacBluidoch was awestruck when his usually quiet and timid daughter accidentally used telekinesis to yank a hatchet from his hands and into her own. When questioned she simply responded that she wanted to hold it and feel what it was like. This response got a celebratory little dance from the large and normally stoic man and just about the same response from her mother who was much smaller and much higher in energy than her spouse. When they eventually calmed a bit, they tried to work with Jean to see if she could replicate what she had just done though nothing would come of it. Still the couple were excited for the small girl who would surely be going to school soon after.
